I doubt this will get very far in WV, but Mountain State gun owners should be aware of the effort to strip away self-defense provisions in state law.

WV's self-defense laws are actually quite weak outside of the "Castle" provisions that apply to home, car, or place of business. There is no reason to do away with SYG in WV. If anything, greater protections are needed so that the honest citizen who is violently assaulted in public isn't victimized twice: first by the attacker and second by the court systems. No one chooses to be the victim of an assault and those who use force to repeal an unlawful assault shouldn't be paraded in front of jury at tremendous personal expense and tremendous tax-dollar expense simply because they defended themselves against criminal violence.

Thanks for the heads up. It's always good to know what radicals are out there, and what they're up to. I was glad to see this quote at the end of the article:

The Charleston Gazette reports that State Senate President Jeff Kessler says that there's no plan to change or repeal West Virginia's law. He says the existing law is appropriate and adequate.

I see no way that the "group" can bring the racial element into the gun laws, as they are trying to. Most West Virginians I know would just shoot through the door and worry about the laws later, therefore not even knowing the race of the person who is/was attempting to enter.

My recliner that faces the door which I keep dead bolted,
is too close to that door. I need to move back a bit, in case it gets kicked in on top of me before I can get off a shot as its coming down on top of me.

My brother, a police officer told me that door as strong as it is could be kicked down inside of 30 seconds. The target when the door is that close is the door. If West Virginia does change their laws, guess you all could come on down to Texas.

Once these groups get the SYG laws fixed, they will start working on the problems they see with the castle doctrine.
Especially those with strong castle doctrines.

WE SHOULD ALL KEEP OUR COLLECTIVE HEADS UP. As far as WVA goes, don't bury your head in the sand-- a quick check on who is able to get elected next door would keep you up at night. I know a LOT of good people in West Virginia, but they must not vote, going by who is being elected. I see the liberal band wagon is forming on the left with a list of so-called celebrities who will not perform in states with SYG laws. Good, keep them out would be my vote.
