Default Remember?

Remember when so many NRA bashers were ranting against the NRA for not supporting Harry Reid's opponent? Remember, the point was made that (1) Reid has been a fair supporter of 2nd Amendment rights, and (2) if Reid had been defeated, Chuckie Schumer would have moved into the Majority Leader slot.

Dem lawmakers to announce bill limiting online ammo sales - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room

This proposed legislation will not see the light of day in the Senate. Why? Because Reid is beholden to the NRA. As are a bunch more Senators and representatives who do not want to have to take a stand on this issue.

Seventh paragraph down in the article:

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said last week that he does not intend to bring gun control legislation to the floor"

Who do these folks fear? Not GCO, not GOA. There is only one 800 lb. gorilla that makes them tremble. Guess who?

I have seen references complaining about LaPierre's $1,000,000-plus salary. Well, I believe he, Chris Cox, and other high-ups in NRA are earning their salary now. I intend to extend my membership this week, and I will donate a little to ILA.

I wonder how come they didn't "start a conversation" before submitting that legislation.

You're right Red, but today's wins are no guarantee. Should Mr. Obama be re-elected, I believe he'll do everything he can to do away with the Second Amendment. At the end of the day, Sen. Reid works for his party's President, ( I know, they're both supposed to work for us, but let's be honest here.). He'll do whatever the White House wants.

I've got my doubts. After what happened in 1994 after the AWB and the Brady Bill, I doubt too many congress critters will want to "walk the plank" as Clinton put it, for a lame duck president. Clinton gave NRA credit for the 1994 democrat blood-letting, and he even claimed that NRA cost Al Gore the 2000 election. Clinton said NRA cost Gore Arkansas, maybe MO, TENN, and NH.

Clinton on the NRA

A strong, well funded, fearsome (to wavering congress-critters) NRA can do more to preserve our rights than any other organization.

I remember as a kid, there was only one shooting / hunting show on tv. Curt Gowdy. Almost no states allowed for CCW.

Now most states are Shall issue CCW, there is the Outdoor Channel whose tv personalities are almost superstars in their own right. Even main stream tv has several gun or shooting related programs during the week. Wither we , as Gunnies think them goofy or not, newbes watch them and come over to the progun side. I think the worm has turned, we do , still have to keep our eyes and ears open and put out any fires that rise up, but we are miles ahead from where we were in 1970's and 80's

The problem is selfishness. I know gun owners that are not members of the NRA and don't care. They simply leave it to those of us that are members to fight for THEIR gun rights. Hypocrisy as it finest there if you ask me.

Every gun owner should support the NRA.
