'You're An Unbelievably Stupid Man, Aren't You
I got to watch this interview between the Piers Morgan, CNN and Larry Pratt, Gun Owners of America and all I got to say is WOW!! The CNN person is British and what absurd things he said. Mr. Pratt was polite and very informative.

The NYT ran an editorial earlier this week stating that the US is unique among wealthy countries for the prevalence of guns and consequent high murder rate. It also argued that places like England and Australia, with their stricter gun controls, have successfully reduced their murder rates.
This article is a rebuttal, pointing out, for example, that Russia has 1/10th our rate of gun ownership but four times our murder rate, and that while homicides by firearms are down in England and Australia, the murder rate itself is unaffected by stricter gun control. It is a good read:

Funny, ol' Pears was quite a bit more polite to Ted Nugent.
Methinx mr. Morgan suspected that calling Nuge "unbelievably stupid" to his face could've possibly caused the disagreement to go from mental to dental.

I hope someone will instruct Mr. Morgan in the history of how military style and hunting arms took care of King George and his countrymen before we celebrate Patriots Day April 19.Lexington Green and Concord Bridge were not gun free in spite of his efforts.Things didn't work out so good for him then.

Piers Morgan will be doing well not to be kicked out of the country and tried in Britain for the Murdoch / News of the World / phone hacker scandal. He and Rebekah Brooks were center in the controversy that could well land him in the docks and from there into prison.
He is no doubt doing his level best to curry favor in high places to prevent himself from being extradited.
So who's the "stupid man" now you limey bugger?

Someone should ask Pears about England’s law against air pistols. You will go to jail big-time if you are going from your house to the airgun range without your airgun locked in whatever required case and unloaded.
About 30 years ago I read an article about the low death rate among England’s knife fighters compared to knife fighters in some similar country. Studies revealed that England’s knife fighter’s were slashers and the other countries knife fighters were stabbers.
It has not changed much?

I could not believe that CNN took on Piers Morgan. He had way overstayed his welcome in the British media before I ever came to the US. My late wife asked me who he was after he came over and I told her that he was living proof that brain donors can still talk. If he goes away in the Murdoch thing I'll laugh like a drain.

Piers Morgan: 300,000,000 Guns in USA
If there are so many guns in America and guns are evil, why don't we have 300 million murders? Why isn't anyone putting the stats for guns that save lives on the web?

After watching Morgan stumble through interview after interview, I have concluded that he is incompetent and I will not waste my time watching this guy. I did however make an exception and watched the interview with Bob Costas which was on last week.
Both men embarrassed themselves with their lack of knowledge, however, I believe Costas spoke from his heart but lacks any education of firearms and the rights of ownership.

Another well written article
England Murder Rates vs USA
(8 paragraphs down)
In 1954, there were only a dozen armed robberies in London but, by the 1990s, there were more than a hundred times as many. In England, as in the United States, drastic crackdowns on gun ownership by law-abiding citizens were accompanied by ever greater leniency to criminals. In both countries, this turned out to be a formula for disaster.

By making those comments Mr. Morgan lost the argument and made a fool of himself. Apparently Mr. Morgan was never taught the first rule of intelligent argument, "It’s OK to attack the argument, but it is not Ok to attack the person presenting the argument.”
Mr. Page on the other hand conducted himself as a gentleman.

Brits banned private ownership of firearms for 'commoners' , so they started stabbing each other in such numbers , they actually banned pointed knives.
Now they have such a problem in their pubs at 'happy hour' with those wacky Brits smashing pints over each others heads , they banned glass pints.
2000yrs of inbreeding has it's problems.

Mexico, which has some of the strictest gun laws in the world, has three times as many gun homicides as the U.S. and one-third the population.

It's not uncommon for gun-grabbers to become hysterical when confronted with the truth of their failed gun control schemes. If their arguments had any merit they would't require a tragedy like this to attempt to exploit the emotions of a grieving nation.

Piers Moron, Private Eye magazine calls him here. In 2002 he was fired from the Daily Mirror for publishing photographs supposedly showing British soldiers beating Iraqi prisoners. Someone pointed out that the people in the pics were carrying the L81A1 version of the service rifle, none of which have been sent to Iraq, and the action appeared to be taking place in the back of a Bedford TK truck, an old model which had not been sent to Iraq.
The firearm murder rate here remains extremely low, and ratcheting up control of legitimate guns is unlikely to make any dent in it (but then it was never intended to).

Does MR. Morgan think the British are the end-all of sophisticated citizenry? I seem to remember how their illegal and ARMED seizure of innocent American seamen to be pressed into service in the British Navy caused a little stink called The War of 1812. Pip, pip Piers.

I doubt it; he's made no small amount of cash working for UK tabloids - not exactly prestige publications aimed at a sophisticated readership.

The Progressive Liberals in the U.S already have their minds made up on Gun Control so why go on These Left leaning shows/networks? It wont change anything, they just want to argue and get their way. God help us all if any conservative Supreme Court Justices retire..

It's interesting to note that posters have spelled
"Piers" three ways, and one poster called Mr. Pratt "Mr. Page."
In fact, Morgan was a very effective interviewer, and most seeing that clip on his show would think that he dominated the interview and that Pratt was just rationalizing that guns shouldn't be controlled. The average viewer is swayed by emotionalism, looks, and aggressiveness.
Morgan is a jerk trying to advance an improper cause, but he is dangerous. The very prevalence of these TV talking heads all saying the same thing influences the public, and there are few really good pro-gun people who ever get a chance to rebut them. When they appear, the anti-gunners shout them down and interrupt. Our message just isn't getting out as well as it should.
In particular, pro-gun spokespersons need to emphasize the murder rates in other countries, in some cases where guns are very heavily controlled. And they need to point out that the tribal regions in Pakistan and Afghanistan have never been conquered. Too heavily armed, as has been Switzerland.
This week, Channel 4 (Fox) in Dallas hosted a spokeswoman for the Brady bunch. Her opponent wasn't a skilled debater armed with the facts, like Larry Pratt or someone from Second Amedment Foundation or the NRA. It was some guy who owns a gun range, and he just wasn't as quick or glib or aggressive as his opponent. And he tried to blame handguns for these murders, to avoid placing blame on assault rifles. I REALLY didn't like that bit!

Glad to hear it ! I'm a Lifetime NRA member, and also a member of Gunowners of America. I like GOA's no compromise attitude.
I'm also a member of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO). I'm not Jewish - and you don't have to be to join. I like the fact that these folks know history and what has happened to people in many times & places who were disarmed, including law abiding Jews in Germany in the 1930s and 1940s. Its tough for antis to call such folks 'paranoid', given the history.
This is the underlying reason for the 2nd Amendment, not for personal self defense against common criminals or for hunting/sporting uses. I know the majority here probably know that - - - -but perhaps we've been shy about saying so in the past. We didn't want to have a 'tin foil hat wearer' label put on us. We didn't want to be embarrassed.
Well do a little independent research on the National Defense Authorization Act which enables those in the federal executive branch to imprison or kill people without evidence or trial, or even the 'target's' family knowing what happened to their loved one. Research the push to put police & troops in more places including bus & train stations and on the roads. Look at the push to put drones over the skies of America, just like in overseas war zones. Don't take anyone else's word for it . . . . check out all these things for yourself. If after doing so, youre not a little bit 'concerned' about what's happening in your country . . . .
"When the government fears the people, there is Liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny." - - - - Thomas Jefferson

TV hosts and Politcal parties
It seems to me that tv host are like politcal parties. They do things like enforce stricter gun control because they want the common public to be on their side. Why? We all know why, to get better tv ratings and the political people do it to get the public votes. Everyone knows strict gun laws won't do anything but weaken the none military citizens defense against Federal take over or in the event of an actual invasion, render us helpless so be it, having to succumb to the militay laws in the state of Marshall Law. There is no reason to ban assult rifles in the US. Wouldn't it be much better to have a mental backround check included in all backround checks and a drug test? I'd rather have to go through that than eventually have our rights to bear arms taken away, which is where all this beurocrattic rubbish is leading to. The young man that killed the unfortunate childern was mental. My personal answer to a re enforcement of gun control would be that everyone that buys a new gun should show PROOF of purchase of a declared heavy duty SAFE to keep the firearms in. We all also know that it won't keep the street gangs arrested in their activities but at least they will have a hell of a time getting your guns. The mother of the guy who did the shooting, more than likely had her guns in an unsafe place in order for her son to be able to get them. He had a mental problem, WHY ON EARTH were her guns available for him to get?? Anyway, I'm sure everyone thought of all this but I think the Gun Safe thing would be an effective plan on keeping the guns (the ones that aren't stolen yet) off the streets. What else can be done? Stricter gun laws won't do **** angaisnt crime but leave us law biding citizens open to being victims ourselves. I was robbed two years ago and we lost the TV that belonged to our son that was killed in an accident and our first thought was, we better get a safe so they don't get our guns. Home invasions are notorious in our area and a gun of some sort is readily handy at all times when we're home but when we're not home, we feel much better knowing that the common street druggie isn't going to take much time on trying to cut into our safe....Hopefully the picture will be added here, if not, I apologize. It's not the best safe but it's a big deterent, along with the dogs....Please excuse the spelling!

I am a Top Gear fan and Jeremy Clarkson punched Morgan over a dispute.

No Guns - - - I appreciate your comments & agree with some of it, but not with other parts of it.
First of all, there is no gun 'problem'. What took place was tragic. But these are highly unlikely events. I did some checking awhile back after Columbine, and you or your child are far more likely to be hit by lightening than such a school shooting. If one looks up the probabilities of various causes of deaths including bathroom falls, bathtub drownings, fires from poor electrical wiring - - - - they are far greater than being caught in a school shooting or in a hijacked airplane. One of the greatest dangers causing deaths in the country are auto accidents. About 27 school children each year are killed while riding a school bus.
What is common among these mass shootings (given that they are rare, unlikely events) is that the shooters have usually been taking psychiatric drugs and were under psychiatric care. These drugs can increase the odds of suicidal and violent behavior. This is what should be looked into.
Also the "No Gun Zone" laws are stupid and help such events happen. In places like Israel & Switzerland where the citizens are armed, their school yards are safer. Places where American citizens carry concealed are safer than no gun zone cities like Chicago and NYC.
Those who push the anti 2A agenda know that most people are moved by emotions rather than the facts and logic. When we 'compromise' and give into that which doesn't impact the issue at all (childrens safety) - - - - it only encourages the antis to come back for more.
The antis don't care about safety. Elements in the executive branch & ATF did their program "Fast & Furious" which smuggled guns into Mexico so that any harm and deaths could be blamed on the 2nd Amendment. They were found out on this. It got little media coverage, of course.
They want to disarm all of us. Dont be fooled or swayed by the hyped emotionalism.

This does it for me.
Clarkson broke a finger. I'd have liked to see him break both hands and wear out a new pair of Redwings on Morgan.
Sometime folks get what they ask for.
Thanks

A few years ago I worked on a large financing for a UK headquartered armored car company. They operate all 'round the world including various third world countries. I asked the CEO what country was the most dangerous? Answer: The UK because the drivers are not allowed to be armed. All the third world "citizens" of the UK know this full well. The robbers sneak up on the drivers and bash them on the head with a bat! I said I hoped it was permitted to give the drivers a ****** HELMET!
This is the type of absurdity that evolves once the *** sister, do-gooders convince the mindless boobies like Piers Morgan that it's a better result to bash the driver than have him defend himself with a firearm.
The same people will tell you with a pure heart they prefer more useless anti-gun laws over exposing innocent children to the horror of armed guards. I find myself so astonished by this type of thinking I almost go apoplectic.

This is just for fun, TopGear doing what they do best, goof off. This was the way they got revenge on The Stig after he left the show. You could substitute Morgan for the Stig, just sayin'. Lol
