Poetic justice should be that Andy will loose his bid for the White House just like Al "Gorzirra" lost his own State of TN when he ran for President over gun control.

I am beyond disgusted. I hate this state and all of its politicians. I personally give up on being part of the political process in this state. The Democrats are out of the mind liberals, the Republicans RINOs. I am no longer voting for anyone in any election in this state. It's like pissing against the tide. I'm done. The only saving grace for me is being a police officer I get an exemption on most of this nonsense. But the fact that it happened and the way it happened has me feeling like I don't even live in the United States. My life's mission is to move out of New York as soon as I retire from the PD. To hell with this state.

At least until next years amendment... Last time they "made us safer" it was a 10 round magazine limit. Their true intent is really showing thru for anyone that is even half-way paying attention.
Commie states are used to "test the waters" before the feds attempt to saddle us all with similar garbage.

Whenever I hear the words "bipartisan support" I know that the average citizen is about to get screwed. Remember folks:
It's not the left vs. right, it is the government vs. YOU.

The best use of your talents is probably to educate as many young police officers to the truth about fireams ownership as possible.
By the time you retire, NY commie politicians will have the exit tax ready if you decide to bail out.

For folks who can only complain deserve to lose your freedom, maybe demanding a split of this stupid state into two and gather enough local people to protest before any government building that symbolize the state (not these such as DMV, etc)

Hummm. This stuff is so stupid it hurts. Wonder what these mensa candidates are going to do when some guy thwarts a home invasion by shooting multiple perps with 9+ rounds. Charge him with loading more than seven rounds in his magazine?

Yes I agree. The way it happened is just WRONG.
The so called Governor of what used to be the Great State of New York had to get his name in lights. Please bring him down.
I am glad you get the exemption. I am sure you are a solid and good officer. But next you might be called on to arrest your friends or family that have been ruled to be criminals through no actions of their own.

I am only allowed to obey lawful orders. Enforcing this nonsense is unconstitutional to me. Go ahead and suspend me Captain, everyone who gets jammed up in this department comes out ahead eventually anyway. Or fire me and I get to move out of New York sooner.

THIS KILLS ME!
I am a HUGE History buff and have read, watched and studied 20th Century History as much as I can. I have seen that History always repeats itself, and the clues to the future lie in the History of the past.
What people don't get regarding this is totally beyond my comprehension. The Holocaust, The Armenian Genocide, Somalia, etc. etc.
Hitler, Stalin, Saddam, Mussolini, the list keeps growing and we may need to add some "American" names soon.
I suppose the fact that that people don't quite get this is also part of History - how sad!
Today's fraudulent vote that the Governor of NY has bullied through is nothing more than what happened in Germany in the thirties. What's next Gov???

I haven't seen anyone comment on this, but I can see why they picked the magic number of "seven". 80% of the firearms in NY have just been made into clubs (if you obey the law). There are no 7 round magazines for New Yorkers to purchase, and none will be produced after the gubmint neuters the gun industry.

Good man MT. I did not mean my post ugly BTW. I just would not to be in that position as a sworn peace officer.
I did read this piece that indicated the Chicago Police chief McCarthy made a scary prediction that citizens with a legally issued CCW permit could be shot by Chicago police according to the article.

BIG ALARM BELLS Here is a scary thought: the new NY law provides for a criminal violation if a gun is found in your home that has more than 7 rounds in a mag that can hold 10 rounds -- emphasis on the word "Home" --
my legal interpretation of this is that NY authorities are setting up opportunities for:
1. knock-knock searches - they bang on your door and ask to see your guns and check the magazines -- and write you up for each one that has more than 7 rounds loaded -- or they claim that a neighbor complained and you have to show them your guns -- i.e. a pretextual search (one in which they have no probable cause)
2. If you call the police to your home to report a crime, they ask to see all of your guns (for their own safety) and check the mags in your guns (not knocking police in general here, but I fear that officers will be ordered to start gun checks every time they check a home in NY)
3. NY is setting up opportunities to obtain search warrants to search homes to check magazines to see if 7 rounds are loaded or more than 7 rounds -- for the children and for public safety, no doubt.
Bottom line: It is very strange that they mention the word "home" and define a class of violation in that way -- clearly, they are setting up NY authorities to be able to enter and search homes, with or without a warrant -- and this has serious 4th Amendment issues (the right to be free from illegal searches/seizures)

Yes this so-called "law" is very troubling. Very troubling.

So this is what your elected officals have done for you
Sorry this has happened to you NY members. I was born and raised on L.I. left in 1972 when I joined the Army and never returned. L.I. was never was for me. But I do love my NY Rangers.. Now I know Upstate is another country compared to NYC and L.I..We lived in the Catskill's every summer growing up. What beautiful counrty.
Any who, found this on Drudge.
"We haven't saved any lives tonight, except one: the political life of a governor who wants to be president," Republican Sen. Greg Ball, who represents part of the Hudson Valley, said after the Senate vote on Monday, according to the AP. "We have taken an entire category of firearms that are currently legal that are in the homes of law-abiding, tax paying citizens. ... We are now turning those law-abiding citizens into criminals."
New York passes major gun control law -- first since Newtown massacre - U.S. News

James

There are some of us who know history very well. They may pull this **** in NY, but if it's comes down South, I don't see it going as they expect. I'm a descendant of an "over the mountain boy," we know how to deal with the King's men down here, not to mention the red states outnumber the blue 4 to 1.
Hopefully the atrocity pushed on Ny'ers will result in a quick court intervention and a stay on further attempts at this type of treason. It's a shame the good people outside of NYC and Albany have to deal with this mess.

The new law says that a background check is needed to buy ammo. But, they didn't define "ammo". Does that include reloading components like powder and primers? Mail order components will not only require the hazmat tax, but an FFL fee to take delivery. And, the State will know how much powder you have in your home. And, maybe your insurance company, also!
Best,
Rick

How many bullets
Wait until they find out how many pellets are in shotgun birdshot.
They will probably force people to load a slug so they can count them?

New York is a test case to see how far the socialists can push it. After several more US Supreme Court appointments, which will be done in the next four years, the Consituition will get shredded.
Isn't this what the people voted for? They knew he was a socialist backed by Europian Socialist money. Oh wait, CNN said that wasn't so. Sorry.

Now since anything that was designed to be NY Compliant up until this week (not having a flash hider, collapsing stock, etc) now falls under the Assault Weapon name now anyhow with all the pre-ban stuff, does this mean I can unpin my stocks and throw on flash hiders since I'm going to supposedly have to register it anyway?

Registration IS going to lead to confiscation. Members of the NYS Assembly pretty much said so when commenting on the Bill. They put in registration to make it sound innocuos, not that it's possible but they thought so, but fully expect to confiscate them in the near future. Perhaps when the next big "event" takes place after they know where they are.
Mine are LEGALLY headed out of state very soon.
I'll see if I can find the actual video footage, I saw it on a NY specific forum.

sad irony
Please correct me if I am wrong. My understanding of the history of New York and the 2nd amendment is this - New York was unhappy with the wording because the language did not make it clear that right to bear arms, hence the militia, was the right of ALL capable citizens, Not just a select few. So they included the statement to clarify this. My prayers are with ya'll and praying Texas does not follow!
