Default Assault Weapon or Personal Defense Weapon?

Gotta love the hypocrisy....It is an assault rifle if I own it but it is a personal defense weapon if the Govt owns it

Our govt wants to infringe on our right to bear arms by banning assault weapons and high capacity magazines from the public, yet DHS has amassed 1.6B rounds of ammo in the last 10 months.

Notice that they conveniently call those same guns they are wanting to take away from us, as PDW's Personal Defense Weapons if the Govt owns it

see section C PDF in the following link

https://www.fbo.gov/?s=opportunity&m...=core&_cview=0

1.0 SCOPE
The scope of this contract is to provide a total of up to 7,000 5.56x45mm North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) personal defense weapons (PDW)

Particularly pg C-6
3. 9.2 The action shall be select-fire (capable of semi-automatic and automatic fire).

3.9.10 The action shall be capable of accepting all standard NATO STANAG 20 and 30 round M16 magazines (NSN 1005-00-921-5004) and Magpul 30 round PMAG (NSN 1005-01-576-5159). The magazine well shall be designed to allow easy insertion of a magazine.

We the people are the best Home Land Security this country will ever have. We need to hold on to our AR-15's and AR-10's and our 30 round mags.....not for negotiation.

The government doesn't use "assault weapons" they use "personal defense weapons". Civilians can't purchase "personal defense weapons" because they are government only weapons.

If a cop has a semiautomatic AR-15, it becomes a "patrol rifle".

I agree the nomenclature switcheroo is hypocritical and silly.

DHS has not, however, amassed 1.6 billion rounds of ammo in the last ten months. RFPs and IQ/ID contracts don't necessarily reflect actual numbers shipped or received and this bit of mis-or-disnformation needs to be corrected.

And even if they did amass that amount of ammo, so what? There's an incredible number of different armed agencies under DHS auspices carrying and training full-time.

All of the information and mis information has accomplished one thing, it has kept people on edge, and by increasing the awareness of crime in which firearms are used, enhances the position that "gun ownership and higher crime rates are related" .

Though it sounds counter-intuitive, massive gun sales have helped the anti gun propaganda machine. The real anti gun legislators know full well that the armed American is not planning to start a revolution, and wage war against the Federal government.

But the American voter.... that is, in many cases and places, like the urban concentrations, steeped in ignorance regarding firearms and their safe, responsible use.... believe the anti gun, anti civil rights legislators, they believe the network news and television shows that continue to portray the gun owner as deranged and the firearm itself as an object with a will of it own.

This is what we are up against. Not a resistance based on truth, but fear based on lies. Ignorance is our adversary.

Watching news and TV, one could be excused for thinking that ALL crime involves a gun, and only bad people or police use guns.

Why don't you forward this info to the NRA Attention Wayne LaPierre. Maybe he can make good use of this material. I think they need all the ammo they can get their hands on.

Im a strong believer in "History repeats it's self" We are just trying to protect what we believe in while being oppressed by those who think they know better and think they control us. Sound familiar to the British and the new Americans when they first came here? Anyone recall how the American Revolution war was actually started? There were several red coats and Americans ( or soon to be ) that were at odds in a town, the Americans were armed with rocks and tools while the brits had their guns. The argument got very heated and out of nowhere a shot rang out and one of the protesters was dead. This is how the American Revolution actually began.

Now Im not advocating civil war against the government but what I am saying is that the right time, the right environment, the proper tension that builds and builds can turn into a much bigger event as recourse from a smaller incident. What I am sure of is that this government cannot be trusted, to many lies and to much deceit.

I watched a segment from Alaska State Troopers. One Trooper took out his M4 and the narrator said, and I paraphrase here, Troopers use their "long rifles" to confront the barricaded suspect. So the Alaska Troopers use Long rifles while the rest of you Bible clutching rednecks kill our children with assault weapons.

I noticed long ago that when local news shows were telling a story involving violence, a gun silhouette was the background, regardless of teh weapon used. Anotehr thing that gets me is the term 'gunman.' There's never a knifeman, vehicleman, strangleman, or bluntobjectman, but there's always a 'gunman' and it's always a 'rampage.'

Even the shortened fully automatic versions are only 'patrol rifles'.

Apparently they're less harmful when in the possession of an officer, even if the officer is pitifully undertrained vs a citizen.
