Thought some of you might enjoy seeing this.

Missouri decides to not only create a firearms freedom act, but to directly nullify preexisting federal laws. 1934 and 1968 laws in particular.

My home state. Wondering if the Governor will sign it. Very glad to see steps like this taken (Kansas recently did a similar thing).

Yes, Missouri nullified the laws. Kansas threatened to arrest federal agents, and plenty of states have enacted a firearms freedom act.

Stand corrected. It was sent to the Governor with a veto-proof majority.

I still hope he signs it.

Seems odd that a legislature passed such a bill while they are supposedly investigating a branch of the state government that released the names and addresses of those who have a concealed carry endorsement. Any bets this will never stand up in court?

I wish more states had the fortitude to stand up to the obvious breaches of our constitution by the federal government.

It has been said that political issues are dealt with either at the soap box, the ballot box, or the bullet box.

Such legislation at the state level seems to be largely a soap box exercise. Simply put, if push ever comes to shove will the state government and the state's population actually support open confrontation of federal authority? Is the governor prepared to mobilize the National Guard, and perhaps call up a state militia, for the purpose of resisting federal forces in implementing the objectionable federal laws?

I am happy to see several states enacting such laws, thus sending a strong message to the Washington, DC crowd that they are approaching a line in the sand on the Constitution and federalism. I would NOT be happy to see a reenactment of the events leading up to the Civil War.

I continue to hope that such issues can be dealt with at the soap box, and the ballot box, perhaps even in the courts, rather than see us reaching for the bullet box.

If Missouri passes this law, it would establish a precedent that will embolden other states and send a clear message to the current administration that not everyone is going to roll over and embrace their proposed changes. On the other hand, I worry about just how far that administration is willing to go to further its agenda.

No matter what, I just hope this doesn't blow up in Missouri's face and end up harming our position more than helping it.

Incidentally, I wonder if PA's own H.B. 475 will ever become law.

Obviously, she was not representing the majority of Missouri citizens with her votes.

The original states that didn't ratify the 2nd amendment will always be just that. It will always be them vs. the rest of the USA. Unfortunately they are high populated states with Higher than norm incomes and higher than norms violent crimes and higher than the rest in gun restrictions. Do U get it ?

You can take the boy out of the hills, but you can't take the hills out of the boy... I'll second that: "YEEEEHAAAAWWWWWWWWW!!!!" and up you one: "Hell Yeah!!!" This battle will be fought and won or lost on the state level. I thank our founders every day for what they've given us.

Well, I'm pretty active on the Missouri scene and I have to say, taken as it is, this is a good step. Taking out the slight rebellion against Federal gun laws, it also adds some additional protections to the CCW laws. And, if everybody toes the line, it's veto proof. I see no downside.
