En Banc Petition by IL Attorney General re: Concealed Carry Denied
US Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals has denied en Banc petition from Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. So, Illinois has to go ahead with a concealed carry law as originally ordered by the court. What form that law will take is uncertain, but there will be concealed carry in Illinois.

The "form" of the law is what I am concerned about. They will do everything they can to restrict it that is for certain.

No doubt. Step by step.

Only if the US Supreme Court upholds the lower court rulings. Don't hold your breath, you can't live that long. Madigan will keep this in court for years.
I'm glad I live on the west side of the river.

Well, it's a small step in the right direction. Be thankful it wasn't before the Ninth Circuit Court.

Evidently, the SCOTUS has no room in their schedule to hear any appeal before the deadline.

They can always throw on a stay, though, while they consider it. Not saying they will - I'm watching this with as much interest as everyone else.
Moved out of IL before I was 5, but I was born there and Dad has been living there again for 25+ years. I'd like to see things get better - thanks for the news.

I like how Maidgan said "the dissenters gave a framework for how lawmakers could construct the law" (aka. how and where it can be "constitutionally restricted")... I wasn't aware that AGs were supposed to be so blatantly opinionated?
The next few months should be quite interesting, at any rate.

Actually, the Ninth Circuit just did something right in the San Diego case. Now we'll see what happens as the CA AG challenges the ruling and requests an en banc rehearing.
If the current ruling stands, CA is finally on its way to being a shall issue state like most of the rest of America.

Of course, we know that and have been discussing it here since it happened.
I'm surprised you brought this back from the dead to point that out, Kentucky Dave. The problem with your having done so is that now people very well might see this thread, not look at the dates, and think this thread contains new information. Since most folks know about the IL advances of the past year, this could well confuse people. That would be unfortunate, and I'm sure you just overlooked that issue when you made your post.
FOLKS, THIS IS A ZOMBIE THREAD. NOTHING TO SEE HERE.
