"...Commonly used and unregulated internet discussions and videos about guns and ammo could be closed down under rules proposed by the State Department, amounting to a "gag order on firearm-related speech," the National Rifle Association is warning...."
This confuses me, 'The State Department' proposing rules for in the U.S, not related to international? Thought the State Department only screwed up or screwed with things outside the US?
Is this more obfuscation by the bummer government idiots, like Treasury Dept. handling highway issues, EPA handling waterways, or maybe GSA handling schools? If you can't dazzle them with brillance, baffle them with BS!

The first is under heavy attack. The second is infringed the most. The third is gone. The fourth is almost dead. The fifth is shredded. the sixth is very limited.....The tenth has been extorted away. It is clear that none of the three branches of government really care about the Bill of Rights and further, that none have any intention of preserving, defending and upholding the Constitution of the United States.

Nah... Not a phony. I received multiple emails about it from various 2A sources. POTUS is trying to do this, as he's tried with other things, by Executive Order. Like his other Anti 2A EOs, this will also not make it.

I disagree, they have taken most of the Constitution down now they want to remove our ability to talk about what they are doing. I feel that from now on it gets worse !

I heard about this on the radio before the NRA even brought it up. If you believe they won't try to do this you need to get your head out of the sand.

Well there's a hearing coming up in about a month about it, so it's not just a proposal from some wonk.

No, the underlying story and proposed regulations are real. But as usual, the NRA spin on it is a most ridiculous over-interpretation designed to achieve what it's obviously been achieving: Getting people riled up.
This appears to address issues of publicizing sensitive technical data related to advanced weapons systems. It takes a rather vivid imagination to expand that into a government conspiracy against gun forums.

For most of the anti-gun crowd, anything beyond a BB gun is an advanced weapons system.

Maybe POTUS has the TSA using its resources to put gun forum "users" on no fly lists as suspected terrorists. This would explain their failure at the gates.
When you stop and think about it, my wise crack is consistant with the way this administration operates.
I actually heard a report today that the TSA is doing just that, expanding no fly on "layered threat levels."

So let me get this straight.
No sites about guns but it's OK to have web sited dealing with how to cook up meth, make a fertilizer bomb, kill your spouse with whatever, meet and date goats, and so on.
Got it.

Yep, that sly old NRA got gun owners riled up to the extent that they went to the polls and handed the democrats a thrashing in the last election.
I just renewed my membership, and memberships for several family members. I sent money to NRA/ILA, as well as to several pro-gun candidates during the last election cycle.
NRA took money they had tricked us dumb old gun owners out of and ran a series of devastating TV ads in Georgia that exposed Michelle Nunn as the gun-grabbing democrat she is, and she was handed a good old fashioned whupping.
Money well spent.
I get tired of the NRA bashing from the usual suspects.

Well said from a fellow Georgian. It constantly amazes me that people still think that our government would never do these type of things to its citizens. I believe that's why this administration has gotten away with as much as they have.

Two or three years ago some Forum members were lecturing the readership that there was no reason to believe that President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder were anti-gun because they had yet to attempt anything anti-gun. In reply to such naive thinking, several videos were posted of these two gun-grabbers vowing to reinstate the AWB as one of their top priorities. It didn't matter, they just lapsed into denial and accused others here of needlessly spreading "FUD". If the denial hadn't been so pathetic it would have been funny. One guy even went so far as to claim that the videos were dubbed. Head shaking....
Anytime President Obama and his gun-grabbing pals get outed for their anti-gun zealotry it's SOP to blame the NRA and lapse into denial. Nothing new.
Without the NRA it's likely we'd be living under yet another AWB, Universal Background Checks and M855 would be banned.
NRA 3.
President Obama and his gun-grabbing pals 0.
Thank you NRA

Heck if it wasn't for the NRA 2A would probably have been flushed down the toilet years ago.
With all due respect to a few attorneys here at the forum but I bet if you check the major contributors to most anti gun politicians you'll probably see the ABA as well as most other lawyer associations right near the top. Don't think that this wouldn't make a whole bunch of law firms a ton of money. A little present from the gun grabbers to their contributors.

If this has not been mentioned, you can go to www.Regulations.Gov and in the search field type 1400 AD70.
When it switches, click "comment now"
It can be done anonymously if desired.
They're taking public comments for a while yet.
Let em' fly!!
I wanted to add... please do it! It's forums like this where the ground swell comes from to fight these absurdities. The next thing they'll want to stop is the public comments against these stupid proposals.

Gun owners who are falling under the spell of surrendering more of their 2A rights as "reasonable" and "common sense" thinking that will somehow preserve other 2A rights are simply wrong. There is no accommodation, no appeasing, nothing that will satisfy those who wish to disarm you. Nothing.

Well somebody needs to fire all the policy wonks that work in the State Dept and government. That would certainly raise the unemployment rate numbers.

Independent, free-thinking US citizens (formerly British subjects) using firearms effectively and efficiently bought modern Democracy to the planet, and ONLY free-thinking citizens of all nationalities using firearms effectively and efficiently can ensure the survival of any form of Democracy on the planet.

Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock.
Chip. Chip. Chip.
Snip. Snip. Snip.
Ever so quietly.
Ever so slowly.
Ever so stealthily.
Some can hear.
Some can see it.
Some can feel it.
Most cannot.

Nico Testosteros has been picked on a bit on this thread. I always admire the underdog so I am going to stick up for him ..... well, just a little.
Yes, the language of this particular proposal is probably more aimed at leaking classified weapons information than at a site like this forum but the language is vague enough and the slope is slippery. AND yes, the NRA sends out a lot of advertising, requests for donations, and material meant to grab your attention - might even scare some people. And, yes, it sometimes gets old receiving repeated "Alert" messages and requests for donations from the NRA, sometimes making it seems as if all they are interested in is getting more donations.
On the other hand I see groups opposing the second amendment and gun rights are well-funded, getting the ear of a significant number of politicians, and putting a lot of time and money into putting out their point of view.
Would we be discussing this particular matter if it had not been for a NRA article posted by Iggy? While the NRA may not function exactly as all of us would hope, they do at least help keep us informed and provide a counterbalance.

So how will Uncle Sam control a server hosting a gun forum located in the Dominican Republic?

Number of guns and gun owners in USA. Most estimates range between 39% and 50% of US households having at least one gun (that's about 43-55 million households). The estimates for the number of privately owned guns range from 190 million to 300 million. Removed those that skew the stats for their own purposes the best estimates are about 45% or 52 million of American households owning 260 million guns).
So lets say 40 million americans turn in or register their guns like the Left Wing Liberal want.
What are they going to do about the 12 million who are not going to obey.
Is the Goverment going to hunt you down and shoot you or arrest 12 million gun owners and put them in jail?
Do you think that the Arm forces or the police would come after their own people and try to disarm the populace that won't confirm with the authorites?
The left keeps asking for some common sense gun laws, I've read that their is suppose to be 20,000 laws on the books already.
Do you think that some of these are common sense? When is enough going to be enough?

Where did you read that? You have a link or something for that? I'd love to see it.

This would be ignored by so many people and the government will not do a thing about it.

I know the NRA takes credit for a lot of things, but the SCOTUS, defining the Constitution and Bill of Rights, seems to be the ones actually making decisions. That, and citizens writing, phoning, texting, and supporting politicians who really want to get reelected above all else.
