Default Constitutional Carry Passes in NH

Gov signed d bill SB 12 which will repeal the license requirement to carry a concealed pistol or revolver, unless a person is otherwise prohibited. For those who choose to obtain licenses, SB 12 will also increase the length of time in which a license is valid from four years to five years.

Ours in working its way through the legislature now. Governor Abbott is sure to sign it if certain parties don't cause it to stall in committee.

Plus the law includes both residents and non residents as well as resident aliens. It's a good law and took effect as soon as Gov. Sununu signed it.

This is good to know as I visit there from NC frequently. In fact my wife was there this past weekend.

Nice to see the bill pass...now if the rest of the surrounding states could follow. Constitutional Carry Passes in NH

Wow, sounds like a great law, you are getting there. Thats 15 states and could be a lot more this year.

Really big deal considering 15 years ago there was 2

and 30 years ago CCW was a new and novel idea

It takes a long time to turn around bad laws, look at where we are getting on suppressors, if we can get them off the NFA registry, then on to SBS and SBR (short barrelled shotguns and rifles)

When I started teaching CCW 25 years ago I couldn't imagine 15 states with constitutional carry let alone talk of a movement to make every states license recognized by every other.

Gee maybe my kids or grandkids will see the day when the second amendment is the law of the land again.
you know that silly "shall not be infringed thing"

congratulations

Without getting into the politics of it, I think that in addition to a couple of pro 2A rulings from the Supreme Court have helped this trend. Maybe more importantly, over the past several years a number of states have gone from control by one political party to control by the other political party.

I expect both trends to continue for several more years with many more pro 2A decisions and laws to come.

This is a big win for us NH residents. We have not been immune to the Bloomberg push and pull in this state. It means a lot and speaks volumes about our new Governor, Chris Sununu.

As usual--the vote will be along party lines. That's why the other party had a chance to delay for several months--the enacting of the open carry law. Some nitwit from the San Antonio area-already said it was taking steps to delay this as well.

I read a not wholly flattering article in Texas Monthly about Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. If the article is accurate, the Lt Gov. actually has far more control over the legislative agenda than the Governor. At least in the Senate.

I don't recall the article talking about 2A issues, but it will be interesting to see how this bill fares. After all, not that many years ago, actually only a short few years ago, open carry in Texas seemed like a pipe dream.

As a non Texan who tries to follow happenings in the state, it seems like the training requirements might be the biggest stumbling block to Constitutional Carry.
