Default Executive Action Tomorrow

Looks like tomorrow is the big day. This should be interesting, wonder what he will do? Nothing to act on here, it is what it is, but thought an exception to the rules could be made for something so monumental and unprecedented.

Any EO is subject to legal scrutiny.
I just made a donation to help those who do such legal scrutiny. THAT I can do.

So, save your breath, and send some help to those organizations who can fight these battles. This forum supports the NRA. If that doesn’t suit you, there are others.

Time to put your money where your mouth is guys. Put that money that you used to spend on ammo (which you can’t find right now) towards the fight.

I was shopping for a new EDC belt and holster combo but after reading this thread, decided that the money was better spend as a donation to the NRA and GOA. I didn’t need a new EDC combo anyway.......

I don't think there has been a time that it is more critical to throw a bone to the big dog that is basically our only effective defense. If we let this slip by, it will be unlikely we get it back.

I read about it on the Drudge Report. I believe it is just the beginning slide down a long downward slope. How "We the People" react and respond to our elected representatives will dictate the extent of damage done. The louder the outcry the less damage done; squeaking wheels get greased while silent ones are ignored.

It is past time for the silent majority to become the LOUD majority. Send all you can afford to NRA, SAF and others who are fighting for us. That's what I'm doing.

SAF Life Member as of 5 minutes ago. I know $150 is a lot for some, I got that...but if everyone gave a little towards the legal battle, it can only help. It's the nickel slots that earn the casinos all their money. Only lawyers can help us now, give if you can.

If you're going to go the NRA route, donate specifically to: NRA/ILA which is the "lawsuit" branch

Default Now an SAF Life member as of 5 minutes ago.

Already an NRA member and now an SAF Life member as of 5 minutes ago.

Everyone needs to send an e-mail or pick up the phone and reach out to every gun owner you know and ask them to do the same.

This is a fight we cannot afford to lose... we are already losing our 1st Amendment Rights... let's not let 2A slip away.

Well, I doubt much will change. EOs are generally more PR fluff than substance.

Not in this case when the House, Senate and the Oval Office are all the same party.

It's no longer just fluff when the legislative branch considers the EO their marching orders from their leader for creating the laws to make it a reality.

Trust me, I'm in California, and have seen what a "super majority" like that can do to your 2A rights.

There is no time for apathy or a false sense of security from gun owners... those are exactly the two things that enabled making CA's gun laws what they are today.

And remember this, Biden has already made the statement that he considers California to be the model for the rest of the Country, in it's 2A, environmental and other laws.

Yes, and with a new ATF head who is from the Giffords's camp the pistol brace AR's (like the one used in the Boulder shooting) will be under scrutiny. And not just if shouldering them while firing makes them a SBR.

I never donate online, I always write a check.

But desperate times calls for desperate measures.

ILA is getting some dinero tonight.

I think SAF is the no frills, right to the point, no distractions, lean and mean organization needed at this time.

I am tired of the news cycle - I am contributing to all of the entities mentioned and am just going to wait it out. Studies show that this is a loser political issue. That is why they are going the EO route. Pacify the antis and don't put any legislators at risk. Let it percolate up to SCOTUS and see what they say. That will take 2 years then we will see what the mid terms bring. I guarantee you that no one up for re-election wants to take a legislative risk on this issue all they can do is lose supporters. The proverbial juice ain't worth the squeeze. To be honest it is all noise to me at this point and I am sick of it. I know where I stand and what my personal constitution is. That won't change, regardless of what EO's are signed.

All upped with the Firearms Policy Coalition (who have been knocking it out of the park lately) as well as the SAF.

I agree.

They've certainly been behind the lawsuits and victories of late.

In California, SAF and the FPC (Firearms Policy Coalition) are the ones that have been filing the court challenges and successfully winning back some of our 2A rights.

From the terms of service,

WE ARE PRO NRA
We support The National Rifle Association. We believe The NRA is the biggest and best dog in the fight to protect gun rights and the Second Amendment. You may not believe that, but this board is not your platform for NRA bashing.
In plain terms: NRA bashing is NOT allowed. Take it somewhere else.

Look again at the announcement. They’re announcing Executive ACTIONS NOT Executive ORDERS. There’s a huge difference. Executive orders are binding as if they were a law and executive actions are only a non binding suggestion. I saw a program on this a few days ago. The terms are often used interchangeably and improperly by most folks. So don’t get too upset, his actions will not be legally binding.

Read his:

Executive Action Versus Presidential Orders

Long term NRA life member. I do make several extra contributions each year, one of which was yesterday.
As of tonight, I too have put some backing to the SAF for a extended membership.
We must at least tie this up for two years and hope for the best with the mid-terms.
I encourage fence sitters to take action before someone removes the fence. Make a contribution to the NRA ILA.
A little contribution to this Forum will go a long way, too.

I need to make something clear. I support the NRA and am a member. Always have and always will.

My criticism is that because of, what I consider minor issues, people are turning their backs on the NRA who as I said in another post:

As distasteful as it is (Lapier's actions) there is no other group with the strength, numbers. influence and war chest of the NRA.

Each member lost is a plus for the anti 2nd Amendment zealots.

It's our salvation.... No suicidal, mass murdering psychopath is going to violate a gun law. That could get them in trouble.

I wonder if the Executive Action is going to cover the Kurosaki Shizuku Sujihiki Slicing Knife? Dangerous weapons need regulation. A cooling-off period might have saved someone's life.

According to Live, Local, and Late Breaking here in flyover country, the Executive Action topics are ghost guns, pistol stabilizing braces, and red flag laws . . .

Yes...but...according to this news report, these are the "Initial" set of actions. Translation - more to come. It is not a stretch to imagine a NY Safe Act through executive action on a national scale. I am not the black helicopter tinfoil hat kind of guy, but after what I have witnessed over the past year, what governments at all levels are getting away with to keep us safe, I put nothing past these people.

I posted a link above that you need to read.

Executive ACTIONS are NOT the same as an executive ORDERS.

Executive orders are binding legal orders executed as laws. Actions are basically a wish list that have little or no legal power. Read the article or google executive action vs executive order.

80% receivers and pistol brace status can be changed by the BATFE with the stroke of a pen. Red Flag laws are a little trickier, but a strong federal template, at the very least, will be used as an example by many states.

Donating to your favorite gun rights organization is our best defense. And don't forget to write your elected representatives, at all levels, voicing your displeasure with all things gun control. Politicians, of both parties, and at all levels want one thing - power. That power comes from staying in office, and most will throw their moral convictions under the buss if it means possibly being voted out of office...

He used what I have been predicting was going to be the new tool of choice...public health emergency. Its going to be impossible to put that genie back in the bottle, there has been entirely to little push back, and to much blind obedience to rules and proclamations to keep us safe...this is just a predictable application of that mindset.

Our state reps here are anti gun already. They are listening to the survivors and there wishes.

First every shooting must be investigated on what when wrong. I don’t think mental issues should be used as an excuse. If so everyone of us who feels the pressures of life should go on a rampage? Facing the pressures in life head on made me stronger to survive .

1. Background checks.

National data base for background checks no loop holes.

He’s nominating a Gifford group “senior policy advisor” to be head of the “AFT” as he called it over and over. Maybe he was thinking American Federation of Teachers.

Of course said nominee claims to be a gun owner and 2A supporter.

However, herin lies a problem with that statement...

This comes from a Executive Action, no politician has his finger on it, so they can come back and say they didn't have anything to do with it.."I didn't vote for it"...therefore for my hands are clean.......

To me, one of the issues was a non issue...Ghost guns...I have yet to read or even hear of a rumor of a "Ghost" gun being used in any crime.

The "Red Flag" issue to me becomes a 4th amendment issue..

Further, it makes me nervous, that Mr. David Chipman has been appointed to the ATF to come up with some rules..****les such as has been made in many years before, making it illegal to own a sawed off shot gun, or possess a gun that would automatically shoot multiple times with only one pull of the trigger....

Did I mention RULES...Where will a violation against a rule get you for say, a farmer mowing the grass on a water way on their own property...What does the EPA have to say about that rule, and what is the penalty???

Which agency has a rule against not filing your taxes, What is the penalty?

You see, these "agencies" can make the rules, and the penalty for violating the rule.

Getting back to what I mentioned earlier..Ghost guns...Well maybe a new gun won't get to be made with that new fangled printer things, but I guarantee you, I could still make a zip gun from a car antenna a nail and a rubber band and a little bid of wood.

But of course the whole issue is for the children, is it not?...It always is...."FOR THE CHILDREN".
