did the model 53 4 screw have a diffrent length rear sight base.
If my memory serves me correctly, the sight on a 53 is the same, but the screw hole position may be different than a non-53 K frame. While relocation of the rear sight leaf screw occured in 1967 on K frames, the 53 (which was introduced in 1961) already had the sight leaf screw FORWARD of the forcing cone/cylinder gap. So, if you by chance obtain a rear sight from a pre-1967 K frame, it will not bolt onto a 53 due to the screw hole alignment.
