As Jeff Cooper said, an agent with a Winchester 94 could have stopped that debacle in short order. It was a case of not bringing
enough gun to the gunfight (I believe the Agents were armed only with pistols and had one shotgun among them).
This and the North Hollywood bank shootout taught LE that when you are invited to a gunfight bring a big enough dance partner.
