I have a hard and fast rule. If it a new production gun I buy it to shoot, if it is an older firearm that has been fired I'll shoot it. If it an older firearm in pristine condition it goes in the safe forever.
I try, when I can, to buy a duplicate of the safe queens in fired condition to have fun with, but the unfired examples will someday make someone else happy.
