The m37 is my CCW. Would the extra weight of the 649 be very noticeable?

Do not trade. The 37 is more comfortable for carry, especially in the side pocket. Even though it has a hammer, you can use the Massad Ayoob draw and have no problem removing a revolver with a hammer from your pocket.
The 649 is simply too heavy for pocket carry. If you are going to have to have a holster, then git a bigger gun.
