For me the question has an easy answer, because I believe guns to be tools so I shoot them or I don't own them. The one exception is the rare gun.

If I had a rare gun that had some meaning to me, I would put it in the safe and enjoy it. If I had a rare gun that had no meaning to me I would probably sell it to someone who appreciated the rare qualities and wanted or needed it for their "collection" and buy a new tool for my shooting collection.
