Well, if you've got a conversion of an L-frame (for instance) to .41, it makes sense to have the thing reamed for .41
Special so that you don't inadvertently blow your gun up with the "real" magnum loads in the regular-length cases.
After all, you probably paid a bit for the gun and the conversion . . .
