Oddly enough I cut my centerfire teeth on the 1911, and carried a LW one for my first couple of LEO years. Then was forced to carry a DA revolver and got appointed instructor/range officer. decided I might as well try to get good with one and went to work on it.
By the time the agency decided that semiautos weren't the spawn of Satan after all, I was very happy with my DA .357 and saw no need to "upgrade". Also saw too many malfs on the range with fairly competent people and factory ammo. OTOH my revolvers went through two barrels and never stuttered once.
I still shoot the 1911 now and then, and like it, but I shoot the revolver better and carry it.
