Another thought.

Shooting an unfired gun certainly reduces it's value, but something that many of us tend to overlook is that the same gun could be damaged through improper storage, a natural disaster, or simply by bumping it up against another gun in the safe or dropping it when removing it from the safe for inspection. If any such possibilities worry you, it is best to pass the gun along.

Yes, high end guns are wonderful things but they belong in museums or in the pseudo museum "display rooms" of high end gun collectors.
