After doing a little research it looks like they're just for shorter cases. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know why it wouldn't work for longer cases; it will not work on narrow cases , i.e., .38 special, without trimming the two arms but the arms are plenty long enough for .44 mag or even 500 mag if one were to have such a need. I used it routinely for 10mm cases without a concern.
