Default "Dragon Egg" paracord lanyard / keychain / fan switch pull / rear view mirror decor

I posted a thread in the Lounge section about these lanyards, which are derived from an old sailor's throwing knot which was used to add weight to the end of a rope to aid in throwing the rope for various reasons aboard sailing vessels. These have many uses, and can even be hung in a window or on a porch as a decoration. They're also nice for pull switches on workshop lights, fans etc. I enjoy fooling with ropes and knots, and I've been using different colors of parachute cord to wrap the handles of hand tools and to make these lanyards. I can make them un-weighted, or wrapped around a wooden ball, a round steel ball bearing or around an oval shaped lead weight.

I've seen many of the round ball bearing styles on websites and on ebay, but I don't believe I've ever seen any oval shaped ones like my new design, and with the extra beads, knots, and end buttons. My designs are evolving, and I've been experimenting with adding chain links or other hardware to them, as well as different sizes and types of weights. I've nick-named the oval ones the "Dragon Egg", to have a searchable name, and to set them apart from the others. These are the first ones I've put for sale.

Each lanyard contains approx. 7 to 10 feet of military spec 550 parachute cord, which is made up of 7 inner strands and a braided outer shell. It is used for survival bracelets, and by the military and NASA for many purposes besides parachutes. More info. on the cord here:

Many of my gun & knife collecting friends love the lanyards, so I thought I'd offer a few here to see what kind of interest there is. Each one is hand tied, and no two are alike. I may take custom orders later, but for now I'm just going to sell a few as I get time to make them and as I'm acquiring new rope colors, beads & hardware. Price plus actual shipping for now.

I've checked with Lee already to make sure it is ok so sell the lanyards here, and he said it is . I would like to stress the point that "the weighted lanyards are NOT toys", and like our guns and knives, can be lethal in the wrong hands. They are made to be ornamental, and should never be carried as a weapon, or swung carelessly anywhere near a human or animal. Even a slight impact to a person, animal, or to one's self could easily cause a broken bone, or death. Please be sure to know your local laws before you hang one in your car.

Black & White print, 10" long, snap hook, tied around a 1-1/8" x 7/8" oval shaped lead weight. $20 plus shipping, props are for size comparison and are not included.

Blue camo, 10" long, tied around a 1-1/8" x 7/8" oval shaped lead weight. $20 plus shipping.

Purple camo, 8.5" long, tied around a 1-1/8" x 7/8" oval shaped lead weight. $20 plus shipping.

Woodland camo w/ olive drab, 11.5" long, metal end button, tied around a 1-1/8" x 7/8" oval shaped lead weight, $24 plus shipping.

Green w/ white, 11.5" long, metal end button, tied around a 1-1/4" x 15/16" oval shaped lead weight, $24 plus shipping.

If you want one, please post an "I'll take it" thread here, then email me direct at [email protected] for a faster response, and so I can keep track of contact info easier, and so I can email more pics if you like. I do have more pics of most of these and some others if anyone is interested. I'm also working on some other new rope projects which I may make available soon. I hope someone else will enjoy these as much as I do.
