The "rifle length" fore end kit, 5.56mm, located in Pittsburg, CA
Price: $469 shipped.
Forum rules prevent me from providing a link to the site selling new ones, but if you do a search for "proshop.tac2 discreet carry AR15 carbine" you should find it. They also sell additional lock plates if you want to switch calibers, for example to go to .300 BO all you need is the lock plate and a new barrel (with gas block & tube). If you're willing to change out other parts like the bolt, etc, I believe you could switch calibers to anything that will run in a mil-spec upper.
Sale is for assembled kit, MINUS lower receiver. Includes the RRA Entry Stock (with tube, spring & buffer), Monster Man Grip, Redi-Mag, and sling. I'd rather not knock out the pins or lose the FCG I worked on, so besides the lower itself you'll need an LPK. For folks who live in less restricted areas and want an A2 pistol grip instead, I can substitute one for the MMG. I also have an M4 type stock that's pinned in the second-out position (longest that will fit in the case), dismounted OAL of 9", that I can swap for the entry stock if you want.
The upper has to go as a no-name, because I can't remember where I got it from. It has an unlined, 1:9, M4 profile barrel. The front sight was removed and a lo-pro gas block provided by the company I got the kit from, a YHM I believe, installed. No dimpling, but the set screws are loctited. The rifle length model fore end is long enough to completely cover the gas block, so you don't have to worry about bumping it into things.
The brake is a Kineti-Tech Muzzle Brake, with concussion sleeve. The included optic is a Bushnell Trophy 1x32 sight that can switch between red & green reticles. These have since been discontinued, but when I bought it I did a bit of research and found that they were one of the higher rated budget priced RDSes out there.
Magazines in photos are for illustration and are NOT included, but I'll throw in a GI-based 10/30 mag. For restricted area buyers, the slot in the case for two 10/30s will also accommodate four regular ten-round mags, plus the one in the Redi-mag that's 50 rounds on board. I got the piece of Naugahyde to keep the barrel from rubbing or rattling on the other parts. It doesn't look that lightly colored in person. The fore end tube has a few rub marks on it.
I'd say the biggest flaw is one of the seams on the briefcase, lower front right under the handle. It came out, and didn't want to get tucked back in. It's been glued as best I could, and you can't really tell unless you look real close. The case isn't an expensive one, but I figure that helps with the low profile. You won't draw a second glance with this as opposed to a Halliburton or Pelican or some such. I didn't keep the papers that came with the case, but the SOLO site has instructions on how to reset the combo.
I've only had it out a couple times, round count is just under 200. When I tested the repeatability after disassembly, the range was so crowded I could only get a spot at the 50 yard line, but at that distance the groups overlapped.
Per forum rules, "I'll take it" posts have precedence over PMs or emails. I'll be checking in on the home computer throughout the day, so don't be surprised if I don't get back to you right away. Yeah, I know, probably the only guy in CA w/o a smart phone.
For California buyers, I'm available to meet around the Bay and a little further, say within the boundary of Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Stockton and San Jose.
*Believe it or not that's the same carpet in all the photos, I guess the automatic light sensor was picking up on different stuff.
