22 ammo at Wally World
Stopped at local WM today to get some stuff for the wife. Just had to go past the ammo counter. Surprised they had Rem. and Federal bulk packs of 22LR @ $16.47. There was nothin else to do buy to buy a pack of Federal's.

Wally world ammo
Stopped at ours in Wheatridge CO last night, I bought Winchester 44 mag 240gr JSP and Rem 45 auto 230gr FMJ. Plenty of 22 ammo present as well as increasing amounts of rifle ammo (lots of 30-06)

Maybe the saturation level has been reached? I see more and more reports of WW having 22 in stock.

Ammo at my Wal Mart is still pretty scarce. At Gander Mountain that have a lot, but over priced. The 500 some pack of rem .22s runs $24, but they always have them.

My local WW has the Federal bulk 550's for $14.95 pretty regularly now.
It's a shame that they are going to keep prices high just because they were able to get them for the "scare" period. I know it won't happen, but if everyone stopped buying for just two months, prices would come right back down. It's the same with ammo as it is with gas. They know that there are people who just don't care what it costs, and will pay anything, so they are able to keep prices and profits up. It has nothing to do with supply or material costs. Jacking prices up does nothing to alleviate demand, it simply puts more profit in the manufacturers pockets.
I see primers are becoming more available. Do you think prices wil ever come back down to where they were just before the scare? Not hardly.

There is still a run on all sorts of pistol ammo and 22 LR ammo at Walmart in CT. They now limit you to 6 boxes. No more 550 bulk 22 ammo, it now comes in 350 or 375 boxes.

Sooner or later the people hoarding ammo and primers and powder will run out of money or storage space.
I think we are seeing that happen right now and then its just a matter of time before one store wants to sell it for less than another and then prices will come down.

I would not count on prices or availability returning to anything resembling normal soon. When the lords of washington finish off what's left of the economy and health care, they will set their sights on 'gun safety' and the ammo availability issue will really go into a death spiral.

Ammo's still pretty tight around here. While not as bad as the store I used to work in running out of 9MM ball, it's still pretty tight.

Ammo
I work in a brass/copper mill in the press department that makes cups that are extruded into bullet casings. Our biggest runners that run 24/7 are 5A which are all rimfire cups and the next is 5.56. We have a mix of everything else but these two are number 1!
I'd complain about the price of ammo but I'm doing great with the overtime.

Was out plinking this week with my 617 10 shot and could'nt get Winchester super x white bulk box 24.99$, or Winchester silver box bulk 24.99 to extract out of cylinder chambers with out literally beating on the extractor. Loaded in the wally world Federal bulk 550- 15.47$, and had no problems at all. I dont know why, I just know thats what happened. Put this note on another forum too. The guy with a Marlin model 60, and a guy with a S&W 15-22 were having jams with the Winchesters too. Federals shot better for them too.?

I think maybe you are looking at a different brand or type than the 550 bulk pack. It's still available in all the WalMarts I've been in. They do make a Federal Auto Match that comes in a 325 pack.

Winchester dynapoint 40 grain copperplated 500 bulk in white box, and Winchester super-x 37 grain 500 (10 boxes) were jamming revolvers and rifles. The Federal 550 value pack 36 grain copper plated hollow points worked great (15.47$) in all.

The local WW here hasn't had any 550's or bricks in months. They occasionally have 50 rnd boxes of Thunderbolts for $1.97 each, limit 6.
Wonder why it varies so much by area?

So would it be wrong for me to buy up what the local wally world has right now? When I bought the 4 bulk 550's yesterday, i noticed about a half dozen left. Would I be considered a hoarder??

4 boxes? We call that a starter pack for an aspiring hoarder.

Not only by area, but by "sub-area" if there is such a thing.
I usually hit all the WM's around here a few times per week.
One of them is exactly five miles from 2 other stores, but consistently has a better selection of ammo than ANY of the WM's I stop at.
I have told the clerks what that store has in stock on a few occasions, and they didn't believe me.
Go figure ?
Bottom line is....... Ya gotta stop OFTEN. Seek and ye shall find !

Yesterday I checked the local Wal-Mart... 2 boxes of .357 Mag., 3 boxes of Fed. 9mm FMJ and 4 boxes of .40 S&W. One fellow bought one box of .40 S&W. I bought the other three. No .22LR to speak of beyond a few odd 50 rd. boxes. Clerk had no idea when they would receive additional stock. Sincerely. brucev.

Was at two WW's today. One had nothing in stock. The other had what I could use.
So I picked up a 550 round box of Fed. 22 LR. One 100 round box of WWB 9mm FMG and three 50 count WWB 9mm 147 gr. JHP.
Wham $100 bucks gone!

I was going to post this info until I saw your post. I use the Auto Match...works very well in my Buckmark and 10/22. It was about $13.95 a carton the last time i bought any...(I still have about 2 1/2 cases on hand.)
