Default 9mm HP bullets

I have been using Federal's 124gr. HST round in my tupperware gun with no problems. However, when I tried this load in my wife's M&P compact the slide wouldn't go into battery smothly. The opening of the cavity is pretty large and I think the edge of the hollow point is catching on the feed ramp. Didn't ever jam it open but I can see murphy's law working in a critical situation, also kind of worried about bullet setback. Can anyone recommend a bullet with a little rounder nose and smaller hollow point?

Thanks.

Try Remington's 115 grain JHP. Or, the Fedeeral Classic, which is not a Plus P round, although they may make a Plus P version, too.

Those will usually feed in any gun that feeds hardball.

I've had no trouble with the HST in my Beretta M-92FS, but Berettas are famous for feeding well. The load also works well in my son's CZ-75B.

TX Star is right. The standard Remington and Federal 9mm 115 gr JHP
is a good load that should feed reliably. Remington catalogues the load
as (R9mm1). Ammunitiontogo.com has the Federal "Classic"
147gr Hi Shok- not Hydra Shok - cheap and they feed very well
too.

Another Kudo for Remington's 115 gr HP. 20 years ago the Remington fed in anything that would feed ball......but expansion could be less than spectacular. The newer 115HP from Rem has a much bigger HP cavity but it still seems to feed in just about everything.

Winchester Ranger-T/ Ranger Bonded. 124+P/147
Remington Golden Saber 124/147
Speer Gold Dot 124 +P
Federal Classic 115/115+P+
Hornady XTP 124
Fiocchi Etrema (XTP) 147

All of these have fed flawlessly in my M&P 9.

Question: Did your barrel come from the factory with the feed ramp polished? or did it have the same color as the barrel?

I've had no issues with FTF or FTE in my M&P9c with the first three Paragon listed. Before I could find the Winchester T Ranger bonded (in either 124 or 147 weights) I ran Speer 124 non+P's ('cause I couldn't find any of the +P's in that either!) Just this weekend I finally managed to hit a small stash of two boxes of the T Ranger in 147. They are going to be my winter carry load. It's run and shot them very well.
