Production volume is part of the answer.

Compare 32 Special ammo to 30-30 and explain the price differential for such a similar cartridge.

Sounds like fake news. I bought two 22 WMR rifles in the last two weeks because I was selling some of my obsolete Performance Center pistols. Obsolete because they don't make them anymore, but everybody wants one. Bought ammo from Midway and SGAmmo. I expect to enjoy the Savage/Anschutz and Ruger 10/22 magnums for years to come. Like I said, just fake news.

I'm looking for one of the newer CZ 455 rifles. On most models you can swap out the barrel for less than $200 and shoot .22 LR, .22 WMR or .17 from the same gun.
