No. The market appears to have stabilized; more folks are lining up for 9mm; military has wound down (but could hiccup); most suppliers have run wide open for years and now inventory has swelled...classic reasons to cut $$$.

Just my two ...

I have a full size .40 S&W semi-auto pistol

If I ever get to a concealed carry state I too would go for a small 9 mm

Been on a downward trend for awhile now. My LGS has new brass-cased 9mm for $9.99/50...thought I'd never see that again.
Like Derosa said, producers have been running wide open and now there's a glut.

Even 9 and 45 are lower. It's the market finally slowing down.

It's a "market adjustment". After the late great unlamented regime, prices are starting to stabilize, and get back to where they should have been.

Supply and demand, there are a lot of people who now have more ammunition than they will shoot in many years and will not need to buy any in a long time, now if we have a Democrat in 4 years prices will rise again.

I'd say back to normal... prices were elevated for the last 8 years.

In the last couple of months I've bought CCI Blazer Brass .45 hardball at $259/1000 (now down to $249), Federal .22 LR Automatch at $179/3250, and Tula 9mm at $143/1000. I think these are 10 year low prices. I also bought Ginex SP primers at $119/5000 and AA #2 powder (rarely available for years) at $85/5 lbs.

I am seeing a LOT of ammo being advertised locally via private party trying to be sold - trying being the operative word - the sellers may have to wake up and lower their prices or shoot it for what they paid.

Went to a gun show last weekend. Saw CCI .22 SV for $30 a brick. Haven't seen anything like that in years.

Yes, not "low" but back to historic averages. Since production costs have undoubtedly increased in the past 10 years or so, would guess profit margins especially for US manufacturers are very small.

.40 S & W demand from LE agencies may be trending downward as well, with the trend (back) to the 9 mm. Wonder when the hundreds of millions of rounds bought by the government over the preceding 8 years is going to hit the market and drive prices down further...

If you are talking about the 5 billion rounds for Homeland security........they didn't switch to 9. Border patrol still uses 40sw. So does ICE, and the Coast guard. Infact most agencies that issue firearms and fall under DHS still issue 40sw. It was only the FBI that changed back to 9mm

Yes, maybe the current Executive will make all the Federal agencies with .40s get by with just the 5 billion rounds. However, I wouldn't be surprised if for logistic (political, bureaucratic) reasons the rest of the armed alphabet agencies find themselves with 9s in the not too distant future.

I doubt that. BP is in the process of switching from HK in 40sw to Sig 320 in 40sw. The DHS contract for 40 has already been signed a year or two ago and ammo is delivered yearly

Many of the large online businesses made buying commitments thinking of a Democratic win. When that didn't happen those commitments have arrived and they're trying to move stuff just to keep up their cash flow.
Enjoy it for what it is!

Thats not bad considering .38/357 always runs higher than say 9mm, .40 or .45 ACP - cost of brass is probably higher than the others.

I know prices for ammo are down from the last 10 years or so, but some will remember, not that many years ago, 22LR was plentiful and sold by the case (5,000). Case costs were in the $150 neighborhood.

Natchez has 9MM-115-FMJ for 189.99 per 1000. 40 S&W for 159.99 per 650. Both Remington.

Selway has Yavex 9mm, 115 gr FMJ for $8.50 a box of 50.

I've used this brand before and like it. Turkish make, brass case, sealed boxer primers.

My personal experience with the 124 gr is that it is consistent and hot (they state NATO spec), and there is an online video of someone chronographing the 115 gr ammo through several guns.

With 3.9" barrel it's around 1150 fps at 10 ft, with a 4.9" barrel (a M&P) it is over 1200 fps. Over 1300 through a CZ Scorpion. Same guys also do a video on S&B, and the Yavex seems to run about 100 fps faster.

When I ordered it, Selway had a code for free s/h for orders over $300, so I got 2 cases for $339.98 total.

The stuff I shot was as good as anything I had, regardless of the price... and at 17 cents a rd I don't think I could beat it.
