blazer .38 special 158gr
Just curious if anyone here uses Blazer .38 Special 158 gr ammo? You may or may not have seen most regarding it in the other forum 81 to present.
I found it shoots consistently low by 1-2".Just curious what results any of you get from it.I found a place that sells the stuff near me for only $10 per box,but I guess you may get what you pay for.Or I'd have to adjust my shooting to accomadate it

I picked up some of the LRN 158gr, alum. case Blazer recently to use in the NRA Basic Pistol Course we teach, but I think it was $13-14 a box. It shoots alright, leaves some leading in the barrel, at least on the guns it was fired in (a a 66 and a 64). I prefer brass cased ammo but this was all that was available at the time, and $10 bucks a box is a good price.

At one time, I used it alot but I have'nt seen any in a long time. I liked it because it was cheap and preformed well.

I stumbled into a box of it for $9.99 at a mom & pop place. It was at the height of the ammo shortage, so I jumped on it immediately. I shot most of it through my M19 with a 4" bbl. It was very good on accuracy, but it burned very dirty. By the end of the day, it looked like my M19 was drug through a coal mine. I noticed a lot of unburned powder as well. I mean, WWB and UMC is dirty stuff too, but I especially noticed it with the Blazer 158gr LRN. It was accurate and shoot very nicely, however.

Randy,
What gun are you finding them shooting 1"-2" low with?
At what distance?
And with what size bullseye on the target?
Any or all of the above, could and would affect the answer.

If you can get Blazer 50 round boxes in any caliber/loading for $10 a box, buy as many as you can afford. That is an absolute steal. $16.99 is the cheapest I've seen it on the net in ages. I've found it to be good, accurate, and reliable. If it is shooting consistently low, I'd recommend you adjust your sights or your hold as most .38 revolvers are regulated to 158 gr. bullets.

I chronographed some at average 791 fps from a 4" M15 a couple years ago, not too shabby, I thought...

iIt goes bang everytime, is accurate in all handguns I have fired it in and is quite affordable. So what if it is dirty..you were going to clean the gun anyway......weren't you?
Randy
PS. As an instructor for over 22 years, I have yet to see a firearm get so dirty that it failed to operate using CCI Blazer ammo. My loaner S&W model 15's have had over 500 rounds of Blazer and still functioned fine before I cleaned them, I think that they would have gone for a thousand more it they had to!

Thats all we used in my academy class. It is some filthy stuff, but it always went bang when we told it to, and out of a SIG it seemed to group dead on.
