Problems with American Eagle 38grn copper plated .22lr
I managed to find some American Eagle .22lr copper plated 38grn hollow points, and I went to the range with my 1949 K22 and my 1930 Savage 23a rifle with my son. We started experiencing about 30% failure to fire! I contacted Federal (parent company) and they gave me instructions to send back the ammo, (including some of the duds) which I did. Initially they told me they were not going to be able to send me back replacement ammo, but eventually they did, plus some extra. They told me that their ammo was within spec, and my revolver and rifle were giving light strikes, and that is why they were not firing properly. I have NEVER had this issue with any other ammo in either of these weapons. The replacement ammo they sent back is still sub-par, and I experienced about a 10% failure rate yesterday when I went to the range, only using the K22 this time. Anybody else experience something like this?

I have fired quite a bit of it from different lots with no more misfires
than any other brand. Mine were all purchased before the recent
shortages and it's possible there have been lapses in quality control.
S&W 22 revolvers are notorious for tight chambers and misfires due to
rounds not being fully seated. You might try your ammo in some other
people's guns and see how they work.

Is this of post-panic manufacture? I have 2 bricks left of this ammo from a couple years ago. This is my favorite ammo for the money; nice hunting bullet, fairly clean burning, etc. I always chose these 400 round bricks over the lead 500 rounders.

It is post panic manufacture. The replacement stuff they sent is garbage too. Every 6 rounds you have one or two misfires. It definitely isn't the pistol, because as stated I also tried it in my rifle, and the bulk federal I have fires without issue. The rounds are fully seated, as my K22 has recessed cylinder chambers. I put CCI in it and it goes bang every time.

It is very accurate in my win pump but............
does not always eject for some odd reason and has to be dug out of the chamber.
Most be the spec's of the brass, since the other LR ammo ejects from the other companies.
No problems in the Marlin auto, though.
