Do yours look similar to these? Federal did not originate the Hydra-Shok brand...

I have a sealed box of 100 of just the HS wadcutter bullets made by Alberts bullets no longer in business. When I dig them out I will take a pic and post them.

Thanks guys!!!! I do not have a camera, The box I have is a box of 50rnds. They are a wad-cutter,hollow-point...with a stem and I was told
a standard pressue load. The cases have hydra-shok 38 spl...spell out
on them. If I can get another box from him...I will shoot some.
I wanted to carry this load in my 37-2 DAO.

Those loads will become very collectable, I would think, and the supply is finite. Why not just use a good modern load like Speer SB, or DPX? They work great and more are made every day.

I was told that back in the day the manufacturer of the Hydra-Shok bullet offered them for sale to reloaders but this upset Federal and they put an end to it. I presume the ones in the pic are handloads, since they are loaded in mixed brass. Is is possible that numerous outfits could've offered this as "factory" ammo?

No, they are factory in my picture. There were two identical red cases for sale when I bought these, both partials, one with nickel cases and the other brass. The two together filled up one case, except there is one regular Winchester WC that found it's way into the case by mistake (see the crimp). All of the Hydra-Shoks (17 in total) have cases head stamped HYDRA-SHOK.

Default Skorpians & HydraShock

Tom Burczynski created the ammo shown.
Went to work for Federal and produced the HydraShock line.
Left Federal to produce Starfires which have flutes in the hollowpoint cavity.
All successful designs for their time.
