Gander Mountain
Had a little time to kill today and close by local Gander Mountain(yeah, I know), decided to stop in just for kicks. Well, I took a gander but the prices were way too high on the mountain. Only a few customers in this great big store and hardly anyone buying. No wonder. Lots of SP/LP primers; at $4.99/100! WWB 45ACP $29.99! And get this; S&W 642 $799.00! Those people obviously live in their own little make believe world. They ought to partner up with Cheaper Than Dirt, now wouldn't that be a fine pair. Sure am glad I stocked up couple years back.

I was by a local Gander Mountain two weeks ago and had much the same experience. Big empty store with reloading stuff scattered on a card table and a guy behind the counter who acted like questions were a personal affront to his dignity. When I asked if a model 25 could be made to accept .45 ACP his reply was, "if you want a gun that fires those you'll have to buy a 1911, this is a .45 long colt a totally different thing."

I spend a lot of time in Gander Mtn.... I do NOT spend much money there though. I have found good deals on used rifles however. I won't touch their ammo.

I have been known to spend some time there also. I have found a few good buys on used guns. Around Christmas time I got a 4" stainless Ruger GP100 for $ 275. There was nothing wrong with it and it was hardly shot. I never buy ammo from them.

Cool place to look around but prices on most items are not cool, very high priced new guns and ammo.

I don't think they will last. Just a matter of time before they go under.

I am glad that you people are sensible. Have a couple of places here in Columbia, MO that are that way. Have been in them and shopped briefly and then walked out. Will never go back. I hate China Mart, Menards, Lowes, etc. Where do I shop? Midway, Grafs, Missouri Bullet Works, Sierra (seconds store in Sedaila, MO). I reload and don't buy much factory ammo unless it is reasonable. I do remember who is gouging. Bass Pro here is the most reasonable for new guns. If everyone remembers down the road the "gouging" it will make a differance.
