Free lead,for me anyway
I was given 3 boxes of brass, ammo and reloading stuff. In it was two boxes of raw bullets marked cast .357 200grn. flat nose. They look to me like they are ready to load.Do any of y'all have any good recipes for such a bullet? I don't reload but I have friends that do. Thanks, Jeff

Your best bet is to get with your friends who already reload and see if they have a hornady manual that lists those bullets, assuming those are hornadys. 200g .357 bullets are heavy for that caliber and smaller charges of powder will need to used to keep the pressures under control, you need info from a qualified source. Have fun.

While some folks who engage in specialty reloading might use those in a pistol, they are intended for use in a .35 caliber rifle, of which there are several options.

Yep, meant for a rifle.
Look at those bullets. If you crimp the .38 Special or .357 Magnum case at the full-caliber section, below where the nose begins, you'll end up with a freakish cartridge that is too long to chamber.
The nose of the bullet will project from the front of the cylinder, unless you've got a model with a cylinder longer than normal. I know that some models do, but can't recall offhand which they are.
My advice: Find someone who reloads for a .35 Whelen or .35 Remington and see if you can't sell or trade them. I wouldn't throw them in the melting pot, they'd be quite welcome to someone with a .35-caliber rifle.
They might work in a Thompson single-shot in .357 Magnum too.

Great for 35 Remington. Flat nose for the tube mag lever action rifles too.

While these are in a Hornady box they are not Hornady bullets. They appear to be cast bullets with gas checks and Alox lubricant. Definitely intended for a rifle cartridge such as the .35 Remington.
