Default Federal 38 +P+ In a 627 N-Frame

While a LEO I shot & Carried a lot of Federal 38 cal 147gr +P+ in my 686-1, L-Frame. 6 Holes in the Cylinder & full under lugged barrel. Never had any problems at all. Got a new 627 cal PC, N-Frame snubby with 8 holes in the cylinder. The holes are closer together & the distance between holes are thinner. I still have about 2000 rounds of +P+ Federal Hydra shok, left in ammo cans. I've been firing a "steady diet" of Winchester Silver-Tip 357 145 gr HP in it now. Have not fired any 38 cal +P+ yet. Thoughts on firing these rounds in my 627 ? Thanks
Carl

38+P+ pressure should be less than 357 Mag pressure.

I shot the Federal 147gr Hydra Shok HP +P+ in my airweight Mod 38 Bodyguard. It does not feel any stouter to me that 150gr lead+P.

Current SAAMI pressures are as follows:
.38 Special = 17,000 PSI
.38 Special +P = 18,500 PSI
.38 Special +P+ = no recognized SAAMI limits
.357 Magnum = 35,000 PSI

A lot of shooters for some reason think the +P on a .38 Special makes it a higher pressure round than a .357 Magnum, that's no the case. Even a higher pressure .38 Special +P+ with a probable pressure of 20,000 PSI won't stress a .357 Magnum revolver in the least, especially a M627. Have a good time at the range with those Federal rounds...
