A neighbor who didn't know what to do with the stuff gave me about a dozen rounds of old .380 ammo that were loaded with copper-clad hollow points. Inside the depression there is a central "wire," if I may use the term. The configuration makes me think of the receiving end of 75-ohm cable. I have never seen a bullet like this on any other hollow point, not that I have that much experience with them. What is the point of this design? The ammo seems to be Federal (headstamped FC).

There are also half a dozen rounds of .25 auto with semi-clad bullets that look as though they have a small steel ball bearing at the tip. Another quick-expansion design? These are headstamped WIN, so there's not much doubt about their manufacturer.

The 380 sounds like hydrashoks, or some early version of them.

The .25 sounds like a home made deal. Take a hollow-point, insert a bb or tight fitting ball-bearing, and done. I question the effectiveness of this, but people love to "create" their own stuff.

The .380s sound like Federal Hydo Shocks. The .25s sound like Winchester expanding point rounds.

I had always heard about Hydra-shok rounds, but had never bothered to learn what the design features were.
