Default Ted Nugent 10mm ammo

I went to a gunshow this weekend and I found some Ted Nugent 10mm ammo. I had never heard of it but I know Nugent loves the 10mm. I asked the dealer if he had heard any feedback on it. He said he can't keep it in stock once guys try it they come buy a whole sleeve of it. It was pricey at $20/box of 20. But for premium 10mm that's about right. It is 180 grain Speer Unicore HP and end of the box says 1241 fps and 641 ft\lb's of energy.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet but I hope to this weekend. If it works out it might be my new woods carry ammo. I have used Hornady up until now. Their 180's are listed at 1150.

I looked it up on his website when I got home and apparently he has a whole line of ammo coming out. Most of the cartridges listed said coming soon. Hopefully it will be good stuff.

Default Ted's 10mm

I share Ted's affinity of the 10mm.....I have been shooting it, since it's inception....and still have some of the original Norma 200 gr ammo....The 10mm typically has more potential than what commercial mfgr's load it to...the Glock 20 is my EDC.......enjoy your new loads.

That is not bad on the specs

Federal released a new 10MM load this year

I shot the first few mags staggered with 10MM Hydrashok.....very discernible difference

Glad to see this resurgence in 19MM

I haven't seen the new Federal 10mm. I looked at some Hydrashoks from the same vendor and I think the 180's were only 1050 fps. The Hornady 200 grainers run 1050. It was frustrating for years trying to find full power 10mm. I'm glad to see more offerings even though I reload.

Google is your friend.

I would like to see actual chronograph results on the new Federal ammo myself.

I would like to see the Federal chronograph data myself. I think the Ted Nugent ammo is actual chronograph data for that lot. The website lists the velocity at 1250 but the boxes I bought say 1241 which is an odd number unless it is actual data. I have heard of Underwood just never seen it for sale. I don't buy ammo online because I'm too cheap to pay shipping.

I made it to the range today and tried a few rounds of the Nugent ammo. I shot groups from my 1006 and 1086. It was very accurate and recoil was snappy but not terrible. I didn't bring the Glock 20 today so I will give it a try next time I get to the range. I will definately be buying more the next chance I get. If I find some of the new Federal I will try it to.

Underwood ammo
Underwood Ammo - 10mm Auto
I just bought 250 rounds of 165 FMJ to run on the range in my Glock 29 and S&W 1066 for just under $170 shipped to my door.
It's REAL 10mm not the watered down stuff you see from most ammo manufacturers today and IMO is the only way to fly for 10mm carry ammo!
Stats on the 150 grain JHP
Quote:
Technical Information

Caliber: 10mm Auto
Bullet Weight: 150 Grains
Bullet Style: Nosler Jacketed Hollow Point
Case Type: Brass

Ballistics Information:

Muzzle Velocity: 1500 fps
Muzzle Energy: 775 ft. lbs.
Note the velocity at 1500 and the 775 ft. lbs of muzzle energy and I can assure you it's REAL!!
I normally carry Underwood 150 or 165 JHP's as my defensive carry round.
Makes ol Teddy boys ammo look plumb WIMPY!

The 180 grain Underwood loads are pretty close to the Nugent ammo. The 180 Delta Elite load is the same on paper.

On paper they are in the real world on a chrono they are not.
Nugent
10mm Nugent 180 gr Gold Dot fired from 4.5" barrel EAA Witness through four layers of denim into calibrated gelatin.

BB: 584.7 fps, 3.5"

Impact velocity: 1,201 fps
Underwood
Advertised velocity is 1300 FPS. Chronograph velocites are noted in the video.
Chrono showed in a stock Glock a real world velocity of 1320 on a 5 shot average with over 700 ft. Lbs.
That is a solid 120 FPS better than the Nugent. The Underwood dropped energy on target well but the Nugent seemed to over penetrate.

I don't know or really care about performance but I'd buy a whole case if Uncle Ted gets his ammo down my way!

LOVE THE NUG!

I've never seen Ted's 10mm ammo in person, but I have chrono'd some of Scott's 180 gr. 10mm and it topped just over 1300 fps. I'll stick with his, plus it's dirt cheap compared to Ted's. And it groups really well, too.

Maybe I'm missing the implied context of this statement or maybe it's just me but this seems like it is really off the wall.

Regarding the youtube 180 grain Underwood test linked above, the statement that the Speer 180m grain Gold Dot bullet failed is bogus. There was 17 3/4 inches of penetration by both the core and jacket which, by the way almost but did not separate after that length of travel. The retained weight of the 180 grain nominal weight bullet was 177.5 grains. The notion that jacket separation, regardless of penetration or wound cavity characteristics constitutes bullet failure by definition or default is absurd and the person making that statement is incapable of individual analytical thought!
