I see a lot of Aguila 158 gr SJHP 38 sp lately. Has anyone tried it? How well does it perform? The only Aguila ammo I've used so far is their 22 LR and the Super Colibri.

Like all ammo, some guns like it, some don’t. I’ve got a CZ 50 (7.65x17mm) that loves it.

In general terms, they go bang every time and don’t leave too much of a mess behind.

I don’t think I’ve ever shot any of their SJHPs, but I’ve put a box or two of their FMJs downrange in .32ACP, .38Spl, .357Mag & .45ACP and would buy more if my LGS stocked them.

I haven't had a chance to use the .38spl SJHP Aguila ammo but have shot a lot of their 9mm, .45 and .22lr. For range ammo the FMJ is just as good or better than the others I've used (Federal, UMC, S&B).

I'll have to the be on the lookout for the .38spl 158g HP.

I have shot a few boxes of the Aguila 158gn JHP, and it shoots well in my Model 15.
I wonder what it chronos at...I shot a cylinder of Remington 158gn SWCHP +P through my Model 38 airweight, then switched over to the Aguila round...seemed to have noticeably more recoil.

I haven't shot any of my Aguila 158SJHP ammo yet, but what I can tell you is that there is no bonding or crimping between the bullet's jacket and lead core. When I tried to pull a bullet with my kinetic bullet puller, the lead core slipped right out of the jacket.

As with the vast majority of foreign made hollow point ammunition in SD calibers, I would use this ammo only for plinking and punching paper targets.

That's good to know. I've seen it for as little as $170/case + shipping which makes it attactive as a practice ammo. I usually use Speer Cleanfire which costs me about $299/case delivered.

Having shot it, I would use it for SD. In fact, I have a couple speedloaders with it...the tapered bullet shape loads pretty fast. being accurate, and seemingly full powered, I like it.
