Qietest .22 round?
I want to start doing some informal shooting in the garage and would like to step up from casual air pistol practice. I'll be using a revolver so can use shorts of any ilk so am 1wondering what the quietest .22 round is. Thanks!

What is the difference between the two? I have some 20 grainers that are about the length of a LR.

+1 for the Colibri.....I think the Super Colibri just has a more powerful primer......I have the Supers and they are almost silent so I don't know how much quieter the "standard" ones can be
The CCI "CB caps" are the same but much more expensive. Go with the Aguilas, they are both only accurate to about 20-30 feet anyway. I shoot them in my S&W 617 in my backyard when I don't want to bother the neighbors. Makes more of a snapping sound like a "PThhwack" than any kind of bang or a crack. I used to shoot them in my basement out of my Ruger 10/22 when I lived in NJ, using a phone book for a backstop and I had neighbors 20 feet away from me.

BINGO! Just took a few of the Super Calibris I had and my little Stephens Single Shot and...........all but silent. Quite a bit louder in my 6" Ruger Single-Six.
Thanks guys. I had what I was looking for right in the safe!

The regular Colibris are supposedly only for use in handguns, with warnings that the projectile may stick in rifle length barrels. The super Colibris are recommended for use in rifles.
I have fired the regular Colibris in various .22 rifles with barrel lengths of up to 26 inches without any problems. Accuracy, even at close range was certainly nothing to write home about. If I buy any more I'm going to try the supers and see if they provide better results in the long gun.

Try both but I would warn to be sure to be careful. I have had the basic Calibre bounce off cardboard at 50' out of a rifle barrel. The super Calibre is the better choice of the two IMHO. It's only slightly louder and faster.
Still, I preffer .22 shorts/CB caps. Cheaper, easier to find and still quiet.
p.s. also don't expect same POI as your everyday .22 fodder.

Besides the obvious danger of shooting a firearm inside your garage/home, there is a lead danger from shooting inside a confined space with no ventilation. Be aware of that and be careful.

Glad to see some of you have also discovered Aguila "Colibri" (hummingbird). My experience has been that both regular and super are extremely accurate, for single hole shooting @ 30 feet or less with my Stevens Crackshot, using one of several interchangeable barrels I've built for it. Add an old Weaver B4 scope and you're in business.
Quiet? More so than an air rifle. I haven't tried it in my Win 52D or other match rifles yet, but I imagine you hear mostly the striker falling.
Power? At close range, from a 16" barrel, even the regular Colibri goes through 1/4" plywood like it was paper, but will not penetrate two layers.
I've stockpiled several bricks, in case Chuck Schumer says I can't buy any more. It should be an essential (and silent) part of anybody's bird feeder protection program. Expect no client complaints, and rarely any kicking or dancing, if selection of delivery point is correct.
In some 50 years of sampling CB and BB caps, U.S. and European, this is the only ammo I've used which had any accuracy at all. And it's super accurate. The Mexicans have got their priming quality control right.
