These were still being produced in the mid 1960's. I will check and see if I can find an exact beginning and ending date.

The child safety warning was mandated by the Feds starting in 1962, so it's no older than that.

"...1962, so it's no older than that. "

I'm going to do some pictures with a 1960 Mod 17 and wanted some period ammo in the shot.

Looks like these are it.

This is the first box of this Remington ammo I've had. Were the longs & long rifle the same color box?

Coincidentally, I was in the basement last nite and found a box of those and also 2 boxes of 22 birdshot - one #12 and the other unmarked. Also found 2 boxes of 22 Long in Winchester, one of which must have come from Canada since it said 'Long' on one end tab and 'Longue' on the other.

Strange how we have things we don't know we have

Yes. They also had LR Shot (mentioned) and .22 W.R.F. (Remington Special) with the same color scheme.

Actually, just because it has French on it doesn't mean it was made in Canada. Many American manufacturers put French on the products they plan to market to Canada. It may be mandated for export to Canada, since in Canada it's required to have both languages on every item.
I've been visiting Canada -- chiefly British Columbia -- for 45 years, since I was 11. I've never encountered anyone in western Canada who spoke French as their primary language. Many of the western Canadians I've met aren't happy about the dual language requirement.
The French Canadians of the eastern provinces have tried for well over 100 years to create a separate, French-only speaking country. The issue comes up every decade or so.
The attempt is never near success but it gets Canadians riled for a while.
Anyway, U.S. manufacturers who plan to market their product in Canada almost always put both French and English on it.

I'm pretty sure that that box was still around in the early to mid 70's. That was the only ammo that was reliable in my Model 61 (in LR, of course).

Yes it was, because I bought some brand new in about '76 or '77 just exactly like the box you have Gail, only in LR.
