Cor-Bon .45 Colt DPX +P 225gr in 625 Mtn
Anyone got any Idea on the psi on this load? I'm not familiar with the pressure ramifications of this type of bullet. Does it make more pressure than a lead, or jacketed bullet, or less. THANX in advance for your input.............

I'd like to know the answer myself, so this is just a bump.
There is a gentleman who works for Cor Bon who sometimes posts on this forum. Prehaps he can give us some information.

225 +P................?
I don't "know" if this particular bullet will be different, but lead seems to have less pressure problems than the jacketed bullets do.These are supposed to be a harder bullet from my understanding. On Monday, I was shooting 340 gr hard-cast lead bullets at 1250 fps out of my 625-6 Mountain Gun. They are accurate too. These stainless mtn. guns are tough hombres.

The Cor-Bon DPX load uses the Barnes 225 gr. XPB, which is an all-copper HP bullet. I handload this bullet in .45 ACP, seating long and using a heavy taper crimp. I get 1080 FPS, though I don't remember if that's my 3" or 4" 625. If I can get this velocity with ACP brass, then Cor-Bon should be able to safely exceed it in .45 Colt brass. Have you chronographed this load? I would like to know what the real velocity is.

We tell people that if a particular gun (like a stainless N frame S&W) is chambered in 44 Magnum, that it will work with our 45 Colt loads. The pressure on this particular load is @ 26,000 PSI. Remember that same size/type gun is made in 44 mag and 44 mag pressure is 36,000 PSI.
The 45 Colt case is as big as it is because it was designed with black powder.

Thank you sir. That's what I needed to know. I shoot .45 Super 28,000 psi from my 625-3s with no problems, so this shouldn't be a problem.

My recollection is that the bullet line was purchased a year or so ago by a company that is making their own ammo and no longer selling the bullets as a component. Too bad, as I really like it in the Black Hills line.

I have been reloading for over 50 years and my first experience and so-called "guide" was with the .380acp in a PPK..that seems irrelevant except my goal was to achieve handholds that chronographed and grouped as well as the 90gr.SuperVel and later, CorBon. The CorBon loads were the best I had ever fired. That later extended to the .38spl, .357Mag, .44Mag, .44Spl, .45 Colt, .454 Cassull,.460 and .500 S&W. Every Car-Bon load was the standard on which I judged my handholds. I teach Concealed Carry in my home state...and when asked what I carry in my guns...the answer has been CorBon (lately I am carrying the Black Hills Honey Badger in the .380...it may level the playing field for the small calibers). The Barnes all Copper bullets that CorBon uses are devastating in tissue..but they are expensive. If one uses handholds, and if the load does not group....try another...modern guides are truly good.
For personal defense...NEVER use a handload...the legal implications are immense. Carry CorBons..
Michael,,,,,thanks for your input. Nice to know a member of Team Corbon is assisting us.

In what pistol are you using the .380 Honey Badger? I had high hopes for it in the Glock 42, but it seems to light to function the pistol reliably.
