I picked up a strange (to me) bottlenecked pistol case at the range today. The body of the case measures about the same diameter as a 9mm case, but it is much longer and necked down to about .30 caliber.

It is like a tall, skinny .357 Sig cartridge.

Not really. When they first started importing them, the guns were around $100 and the ammo was cheaper than .22LR.
They're real fire-breathers with some of the commy block sub-machine gun ammo.

You should try a Tokarev sometime. When you touch one of those off, it sounds like a rifle went off. Serious firepower for not much money.

7.62 x 25 Tok. Standard loading is 91 gr bullet moving at 1250 FPS. The HOT stuff loaded for sub guns moves a 93 gr bullet at 1400-1500 FPS. The last surplus stuff I bought was loaded for the sub gun, 1224 round case was around $80. I was asked not to shoot that ammo at one of the indoor ranges I frequent. If memory serves me, I think I paid about $70 - $80 for my CZ-52, delivered.

P.S. If you do get a CZ-52, don't dry fire it without a snap cap. The firing pins are world famous for breaking off the nose.

That's exactly what went through my mind..

I bought two of them; looked like new, at an auction several years ago for $70. I gave my dad one and kept the other. I didn't know anything about them, but it turned out they are a blast to shoot.
