Default anything improve on Rem 125g .357 out of 686?

Looking for recomendation on anything that improves on the Rem 125g SJHP in .357 out of a 4" 686. Happy with it so far but wasn't sure if there were any similar performing loads that I might want to consider.

i keep my 340 w/ Rem GS 125g .38+P, my 60-14 w/ Rem GS 125g .357 and my 686 w/ the Rem 125g .357UMC SJHP. the GS rounds are a lot less dirty/flash and claim to have low flash powder. is there a similar performing round in non-reduced .357 loading w/lower flash powder that you'd consider for the 686? or is the 125g still the best choice?

seems like all the "new and improved" rounds are in the +P and reduced level .357 and not the hotter .357. is that because there's no need to improve on it? didn't know if the 158g Hydra or 125g Gold Dot would be a good choice. am still searching for some 145g Silver Tips to try since on paper they seem like a good option.

if i only have 5 or 7 shots wanna make sure they're each as good as can be that i can shoot well.

thanks

For self-defense against humans, nothing I know of beats Remington 125gr. SJHP. Others might differ.

out in the woods i up whichever i carry to 340 w/125g .357 JSP (ouch), 60 w/ 158g .357 JSP (not quite as bad but snappy for sure) and 686 w/ 180g .357 castcore (actually not so bad).

Do not get overly concerned on what is "THE BEST" load to carry

The top 4 or 6 or 8, 357 Magnum, premium offerings from the big ammunition manufacturers are all so good that you will not notice a difference in them should you need to stake your life on them.

Temperature, humidity, altitude will all make greater changes to the ammunitions performance than if it was the Remington 125 SJHP or the Hornady 140XTP or the Speer 125 Gold Dot or the 145 Winchester Silvertip or the Federal 125JHP that you had to fire.

I find the one that shoots to Point of Aim in my fixed sight revolvers and that is what gets carried in that particular firearm. In the adjustables you can carry what you want.

Hornaday 125 gr Critical Defense! This load is "shock and awe", even out of a little 1.875" barrel.

Speer Gold dot pushes the 125 gr. at about the same velocity of the Remington. The bullet is bonded, and they have less flash.
