Default 22 cal tear gas rounds

I picked up this item at a flea market. A small round plastic sealed container 11/2 x 3/8" containing 10 cartridges 1/4" long with a red flat end. The container is marked "22 cal 10 tear gas cartridges EIG Germany". Unable to post a photo as my camera can't take a good close up. Any info you can supply will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Whatever you do do not fire off one in your house or garage. Anyone who's been in basic training remembers the tear gas house where you go in with your mask on and they light off the gas. About 15 seconds later they tell you to take off the mask and walk around the room. Then soon's as they open the door it looks like bargain day at walmart with all them bodies trying to get through that one door. Been there and done that. Frank

I can't help you with the 22's, but I know Polygunbag has Israeli tear gas rounds in 308.

The Germans had a 8 mm Tear gas round and a .22 one for civilians way back when. I believ they sold them for tear gas revolvers from the 1980-1990 like the Model 999-S 8-Shot 22 Caliber Tear Gas Flare & Blank Cartridge Gun...many of the older guys will remember seeing adds in the shotgun news and detective magazines about these great new tear gas guns to shoot in to a criminals face... allot of law suits from muggers happened and in the in 1991 Clinton signed the law no more guns or components from other countries...I am surprised you found any so be careful and use a revolver not a rifle to shoot a test shot.

Default .22 cal tear gas

Used those about 45 years ago to clear out varmint holes when animals were digging too close to the foundation of the house. One groundhog in particular took three doses before he got the message. Nowadays small firecrackers seem to do the trick.

Make sure you clean the gun very well after using the gas pellets, I believe the gas is corrosive if left on the metal.

I just can not see a .22 cal tear gas round being very effective anyway except if its shot directly into a muggers face. Its about like using .22 cal shotshells to hunt ducks.
