Default corrosive or no

I have a box of .45 auto military issue ammo made by Remington the headstamp is R-A 52 i've forgotten what year the military went to non corosive ammo anyone?

It may or may not have corrosive primers. The first "safe" batch is headstamped RA-53.

If you have any doubt at all assume they are corrosive and clean accordingly. If you do fire any corrosive or suspected corrosive ammo clean as soon as possible as it dont take long for things to go south! Ive fired a lot of corrosive without any problems.

Personally I would put this box of ammo on my "random gun stuff" shelf as a piece of memorabilia. If you do want to shoot it, just wipe the bore out with hot water or windex at the range after you are done shooting. Clean the gun when you get home and all will be well. Shooting corrosive ammo is no big deal as long as you clean correctly afterwards.
