Online ammo
I bought 500 rds of .308 berdan primed ammo. I was hoping to reuse those cases for reloading later but I guess that's off now. It was my own mistake.
Which reliable dealer do you recommend to buy from online? I am looking to buy more but I want boxer primed ones.
Are there any other issues I should be aware of if reloading is what I have in mind?
Thanks!

I have made a couple of orders with Midway recently and found that their charges for shipping seems a little high when you do not order a lot. In fact, they will slap in an extra handling fee if your order is under $25. I will only buy from them if my orders are above $25 from now onwards.

If you are looking for "bulk" surplus NATO 7.62X51, keep in mind that 99% of it is Berdan primed.
Only US Lake City and a couple other NATO makers are Boxer primed, and you are going to PAY a BIG premium for that. (If you can even find it)
You should look into US ammo makers of .308 Winchester, such as the Winchester "white box" or Federal's "American Eagle' brand. They are reloadable Boxer primed, and relatively cheap, if you dig far enough.
Also, 7.62X51 or (.308) ammo is heavy, and that= expensive to ship. They all are about the same except AMMOMAN, who incorporates it into his price, and Midway, who seems to think they need to charge more just for the sheer pleasure of buying from them.

being relatively on a fixed income I've done to price comparisons on the various online dealers for 38 special, 44 special and 45 auto. But sometimes I find the best deals at wallyworld. Frank

Thanks, those are good points to consider. I appreciate it.
I have actually been looking into getting the white box Win because their casings are supposed only second to Lapua's but with a 30-40% better pricing.

I see many people discussing about Wally World on the web but I cannot find their website. Finally, I realized that Wally World = Walmart.

Interesting ... they sell hollow point military rounds. I thot it was against the Hague Convention for the military to use hollow point ammo? Or has that treaty already expired?

Question:
Are the Black Hills hollow point suitable hunting rounds? There're not much specs on their website but I am assuming that all hollow point will mushroom, including these?
168 Gr. Match Hollow Point
Velocity 2650 FPS
Energy 2620 Ft. Lbs.
175 Gr. Match Hollow Point
Velocity 2600 FPS
Energy 2627 Ft. Lbs.

Most makers of match bullets, that is BTHP match, DO NOT recommend them for hunting.
These bullets are not designed for expansion. the HP is to achieve the best ballistic performance.
Of course people do use them for hunting, I would not, considering all of the great hunting bullets available.

I use midway and cabelas, go to retailmenot.com and do a coupon search at checkout. It can cut down the $hipping. Some work some don't, it's always worth a try.
Another good one that only links to ammo in stock (it links to other online retailers) is ammoseek.com

You are right. I just bought a bunch from Midway using their Father's Day coupon and essentially, it means free shipping. With free shipping, Midway is a very good deal, I agree.

I have used Lucky Gunner.com, Ammoman, Police Express Supply, Ammo to go, Midway USA, Cheaper Than Dirt and a few others.
I am not tied to any of them. Best price gets my order. I will say I like Ammoman's quick shipping and prices that include shipping.

Along with the other good suggestions in this thread I'll add Sportsman's Guide to the list. Sometimes they have very good deals on 7.62X51mm NATO ammo. I've seen the reloadable ammo for as low as 52 cents a round in bulk. Of course the non-reloadable stuff will be cheaper.

Yes, I have seen this one before but I have not bought anything from them yet. I also noticed that they have a good variety of other military surplus goods like boots, camping equipment, ear and eye protection, compass ... all good for and useful for hunting.

Sportsman's Guide is a good company to deal with. I have been shopping with them for many years. They ship quickly and their S&H prices aren't outrageous either.

SurplusAmmo
I drove there today and spent around $250. Incredible prices and really good deals; especially, for paper punching ammo. Even the premium hunting ammo are priced nicely.
I will be going there again.

BVAC
I tried a box of BVAC 45ACP and felt they are very well made.
Anyone else tried their ammo before?
BVAC-Home
They are a ammo business based in Montana.

I've bought a lot of ammo for several years from Ammunition To Go and I've been totally pleased with every transaction. Recently, I ordered some ammo from Midway and I was happy with that as well.
