Default ammo issues?

if i am using 38 special +p ammo for home defense, and use that round primarily at the range, with occasional use of a lighter .357 mag load (approx 1200/fps), will it cause me problems with build up, or ineffective loading, shooting, emptying of the .357 magnum rounds when i choose to shoot them? of course i will be cleaning my gun after every range trip.

run-on sentence anyone? lol.

I use a .45 cal brush to clean out the cylinder on my Ruger Vaquero .357 after shooting a bunch of .38. No problems so far and I'm told that a thorough cleaning of the cylinder is all that is needed.

It won't be a problem as long as you clean the chambers well after any range session. However, if you warm up with the 38 spl. at the range and then wish to shoot some Magnums, you'll probably want to limit the 38 spl. to 30 rounds or less. You'll also likely find that inserting the longer Magnums will require a firm push for the first 2 or 3 cylinder loads but after that the carbon ring from the warmup 38 spl. will be well pulverized and reloads will drop in easily.

thanks gang. i may start with a speedloader of 38's then switch to the magnums for a while and finish with the 38's. i just want new gun ownership to be as smooth as possible for me.
