303 British blanks
HI,
I,m looking for blanks to be used on our Memorial day parade. They are for the
British 303 Enfields Model 17. Can any one suggest a source for me?
Thank you,
Springfield Bob

You threw me on the description, Bob. The US M1917 rifle is chambered for .30-06 and was put into service for WWI because the British P14 Enfield was already in production here in the States and the changes could be made quickly. The P14 was chambered for .303. Watcha got?

Enfield 303
I understand that the 1917 rifle was made in 30-06 My rifle is marked England on it. It is chambered for the 303 Britsh as I have fired the 303 in it where as the 30-06 will not even chamber. It has the SMLE
I read were more 30-06 Enfields were produced than the Springfield 30-06 rifle.
Thank you,
Bob

I just wanted to make sure you weren't chasing the wrong thing.
This might help: .303 BRITISH CAL NON-CORR BLANK AMMUNITION for CARTRIDGE GUNS - EMF Company
You could also try placing an ad here in the WTB forum.

Hello Bob,
Im sorry I dont have any .303 blanks,
You may be confusing the SMLE "Short Magazine Lee Enfield with the P14 "Eddystone in 303.
The "Eddystone" came in both .303 and 30-06 calibers the WWII SMLE did not.
If your gun looks like this it is a P14 Eddystone.

303 Enfield
Thank you both for your replies. I think your right in that I may be confusing the Eddystone with the Enfield SMLE. What we have (VETERAN'S)
unit is the Enfield Smle 303British.
I am waiting for a phone call from the EMF co to see if they have the blanks we need
Regards,
Bob
