Default ammo thoughts shield .40 cal. for CC

If you mix different weight bullets in your magazine, would that have a bad affect at all? I put in 2 hornady critical defense 165 then 3 winchester white box 180 JHP then 1 hornady on the bottom. Hornady in the pipe. I heard that the 165 is lighter and faster giving you better accuracy for initial shots, then heavier grain once your zero'd in for a harder hitting grain JHP. That last part was my thinking but I might not be right. I use a shield .40 cal.
Yeah i'm a newb at firearms and just trying to get it right.

At close range I doubt it would matter, but you're liable to have different points of impact with different bullet weights. I'd do some shooting with the gun loaded that way and see how much difference there actually is.

Mine seems to like speers 165 gn gold dot, but guns vary, yours may prefer a different brand, id try a few different types and see what you shoot best with.

Thanks, that is the frustrating part, i own a glock 23 .40 cal. It seems to love being fed anything and everything I put in it. Kind of spoiled really. I guess its gonna be a bit expensive running different SD rounds to see what it likes, and what makes it hiccup. But I can see how important it will be since the shield is going to be my go to gun for carry.

Shield is not my carry gun as the 7 round mag kept falling out, now i'm suspicious of the 6 round cause i didn't shoot any more after the 7 kept falling out. Don't trust it until I get the repair done.

Hunter. I experienced the same problem.. I strongly suggest you call customer service and get this issue fixed. You and I are not alone in this. There are several threads discussing the problem with the 40 cal 7 round shield. My guess is they will either ask you to send your firearm in or send you new magazines.
