I bought some .44 Magnum in the old thin 20 round blue and white boxes. Should I blast it up or is it collectible? I don't know when they stopped making this.

I dont know when they stopped making it either but if i was you i would hold on to it my friend. Store it in a save place away from moisture and light. Do you have pics?

None taken blujax1. I personally find things like that neat. Im not saying so later you can sell it and make money of it, just a neat thing to maybe pull out once in a while and say "have you seen many of these?" A friend of mine tore down an old house built back in the 1800's, he saved a bunch of hand made nails that he found in the house. He doesnt seek to make any profit just enjoys having a piece of history regardles if its worthless.

To some people things of the past mean nothing and to others means the world. I myself think that things that are no longer made for what ever reason are neat.

If i had the boxes of ammo i would keep them, not in hopes that in the future i can make money off them but just because it would be neat to have, just as simple as that....idk maybe im a weirdo lol

bp, you are not a weirdo. I would hang on to the boxes. Even if you do not consider yourself a cartridge collector, the boxes are interesting, and, being a make no longer in production, they are beginning to see a rise in value amongst the collecting fraternity. I collect paper shotshells, but, if I collected boxes, I would offer someone the equivilent of a few boxes (or more) of new ammo. Check the link below.

I have to admit that I am a reformed collector of the worst type. I have an oddball collection that became somewhat of an obsession and when I found all of them I could, I put them in a box away from moisture and light.

There was a pretty popular movie Caddyshack. Rodney Dangerfield plays an insufferable nouveau-rich loudmouth who buys everything in sight. In one scene, he walks into the pro shop and says: "Ooh, I'll take 6 of those, four of those and a pack of them naked lady golf tees."

My "collectable"? Naked Lady Golf Tees! I spent years collecting examples in every shape and size, from the novelty stores, golf shops, antique stores, flea markets, Ebay, you name it.

I can proclaim without fear of contradiction that I have the most complete collection of naked lady golf tees on the planet.

And thus I ask "And now what?"

lol! Funny how we get a hold of things with or without value and cant let go. One mans trash is anothers treasure! Lol dint even know they made such golf tees, but then again i dont golf that much. i like the sport of golf but rather throw my money at guns and ammo and such

I still have some 20 round boxes of S&W 44 Mag ammo. It looks just like WW 240 grain JHP.

I've been going to "shoot it up" several times just to get rid of it ----- but I always put it back, thinking "I remember when I bought that stuff @ Bi-Mart in the late 70s."

Reminds me of my youth, I guess.

Got some of the old 38 spl S&W ammo. Now I guess I'll quite using it and save some. It is pretty hot with 125 grn hollowpoints. My dad had it put away and I have no idea how old it is.

I understand perfectly. I still have several boxes of Winchester Black Talon. just because!

I've set aside a lot of brass with the S&W headstamp, all calibers. Don't know what I'll do with it, just seems like it should be collectable.
All things S&W catch my eye, good thing I have plenty of room in my shop.
