Ammo Suppliers to Stay Away From

I just tried to order ammo with TargetSportsUSA.com which is also DiscountAmmoSales.com. The person in particular was the internet sales manager named Diana Delmic. These places advertise on their websites you get free shipping with bulk ammo purchases. I found it wasn't the case when I tried to order some bulk ammo and saw shipping charges added. They contacted me about my unfinished order and I told them they lie about free shipping and would not be back. This was their response:

"Free shipping is on case bulk orders only, therefore it is not a LIE. Maybe you should take some time to learn to read English before expressing your dissatisfaction at every opportunity.

TargetSportsUSA.com | 1-860-676-0610

DiscountAmmoSales.com | 1-860-676-0613"

There are many places which would welcome our business so these are two I'm not going to use.

The company must be doing very well to respond to a potential customer in this manner.

I don't expect companies to bow down but a response like the one you received is mind boggling.

The arrogance of some people...

AirForceShooter 11-19-2012 11:56 AM

is the company right though?
Does the web say FULL case?

If someone called me a liar and was wrong I'd be pissed too

I checked the website and there is a tab to click for 'details' about free shipping:

Quote:

Thank you for visiting Target Sports USA, where all bulk ammunition is shipped free via FEDEX GROUND service if purchased in case quantities. One of our core values at Target Sports USA is to offer great prices to our customers and excellent costumer service at the same time. One of the ways we strive to achieve that goal is to offer our customers free shipping on any case purchase of bulk ammunition.

Unlike other companies that reduce their price with the larger volume of purchase and slap you high shipping and handling fees to make up the difference, Target Sports USA will give you free shipping on bulk ammo and you will save a lot.

DETAILS
All ammunition at Target Sports USA is eligible for free shipping
An ammunition item to qualify for free shipping must be purchased in case quantity
Each item is packaged differently and case size will vary depending on manufacturers original packaging
In order to view the case size, simply click on each desired item to view the product page

BUY ANY CASE OF BULK AMMUNITION, AND RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING, it is simple as that.

end quote

Real Sniper 11-19-2012 12:18 PM

I tried to purchase case quantities and the shipping charges were still added. I even tried other items in case quantities to see what would happen and got the same result. The simple fact is they don't stand behind what they say.

Even if she would be right, a response like that

is just immature and way off...!!!

jag22 11-19-2012 01:12 PM

Really? I looked at several items and it was as described. Did you scroll down further on the page? There are two choices, one has a picture of the actual ammo box and the other has a picture of a brown cardboard box which is the case. Click on the brown box image and there will be no shipping charge at checkout. If you click on the ammo box picture shipping will show up so that may be where the problem is. If you order correctly there shouldn't be a problem. I see no effort on their part to deceive anyone and if you called me a liar my reply would probably burn a hole in your screen. I thought she was quite restrained.

D Rock 11-19-2012 01:20 PM

There's certainly no reason for them to be rude to you, I understand you being mad.

I have ordered from them and never paid shipping on a case of the same ammo, 1K rounds. So, I just went there before my post and put a case of American Eagle 9mm 147g ammo in my cart. I took it all the way to "PLACE ORDER", the price was 279.80 and no shipping was charged.

Sorry you had a problem. There are plenty of places to buy ammo and I subscribe to all their news letters so I can shop for the best value.

I have always had a good experience with target sports. I try to treat folks the way I want to be treated.

So, I think they responded just fine to him. Sounds to me like the OP was being a jerk right off the bat and treated them how he wanted to be treated. Does nobody else see that the way he responded to their inquiry was pretty ******?

The OP was certainly not as diplomatic or polite as he should have been.

The response he received was inappropriate. If the person in question was working in my store they would be fired.

Drexx3 11-19-2012 07:37 PM

From a store owner's perspective I can appreciate your position and would likely agree with you if I were as well. But I'm not, and standing on the sidelines and trying to look at it objectively I say good for them. The customer is not always right. Maybe I'm just watching too much reality TV.

ozarker321 11-19-2012 07:56 PM

I have bought ammo by the case from TargetSportsUSA a few times and all they have ever added was a couple of dollars for insurance. I've had very fast shipping too.

MP22 11-19-2012 08:20 PM

Sounds like Target Sports was in the right....!

Mike McLellan 11-19-2012 08:48 PM

I know there's a moral to this story, but I'm not quite sure what it is.

Dave

I was just able to order 1000 rounds of Eagle 147g also from my LGS for 11.99 per box. Even with my 8.25% sales tax here it still came to less than the online price without shipping. Don't always assume you get a better price online.

Vom Brunhaus K9 11-19-2012 10:04 PM

I use Cheaper Than Dirt never had a problem. The trick to keeping the shipping cost LOW is to order all products thru the same warehouse eg: A, B, C, D, G, H,. If you order from multiple different warehouses there is a shipping cost from each warehouse/location. VB

The part of their response I placed in bold leads me to believe the OP and that company have had more than one run in already, probably many! If this is a patten it's possible the company wants no part of him any more.

Like said above, if I were called a lair outright I would not react well either, especially if it's happened more than once. (but we are only hearing one side)

I had a good experience with Target Sports USA. Everything provided as advertised and I had my ammo in 5 days.

Hapworth 11-20-2012 08:56 AM

I think we can agree the first example of ammo suppliers to stay away from is debatable, so....

Any others to be avoided?

When I was still in the workforce(now retired) had a situation where a prospective customer's son called me a liar. At that point the conversation was over and they were asked to leave. I personally would not tolerate being called a LIAR.
Moral?

I think too many website makers try to get too cutesy with things like clicking on the pic of a box(case) to get the case price or in this case free shipping. Seems if this is the case the lady should have told him to click on the case instead of the single ammo pic for the free shipping. There have been many websites I have simply given up on because I could not figure out how to navigate on them.

On the TargetSports site, when you go to the cart, or check out, you enter the quantity, either the case if that is the way the product is available, or the box. If you enter N boxes (enough to make a case) it calculates the case price for you and removes the shipping charge. You don't have to select the correct 'box' to get the case price or free shipping; you just have to know how many individual boxes make a case to get the case pricing. It's not really difficult to use their site.

jag22 11-20-2012 12:18 PM

Ozarker, I agree that it would be nice if it worked like that but it doesn't seem to. I tried 4 different products and each time I ordered the correct amount to qualify as a case it showed shipping charges. Truth be told, I have never purchased from them so maybe the shipping goes away at final checkout but when you check your cart it is there. When you order the case it shows free shipping on the cart page. I don't think its that hard to figure out and if the OP can't, I'd just as soon not be shooting next to him

duppie 11-20-2012 12:27 PM

I came upon this thread late but something seemed rather familiar after reading it in it's entirety.
The name Diana Delmic stood out so I went back to the NJ gun forum and pulled up a older thread where a member was banned by a Doug at Target sports after not receiving part of a shipment.
The outcome was a very similar terse and somewhat unprofessional response by Miss Delmic. The OP in that case did quite a bit of investigation and found that the Doug was also named Delmic ,the business had a F rating by the BBB at that time and Miss Delmic is also in the habit of Banning customers.
Never did business with them and I too am cognizant of the challenges when dealing with some demanding customers so just putting it out there as a FYI.

In the interest of fairness, I thought I'd point out that they currently have an "A-" rating with the BBB.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't do business with this outfit either, but more so because I already have an established business relationship with my LGS for by-the-box or bulk ammo purchases.

I did not check but that is why I stressed "at that time"....The thread I referred to was at least a year old.

No worries, and I know you pointed that out. I was just trying to demonstrate that they seem to have "cleaned up their act" somewhat, at least according to the BBB anyway.

SMSgt 11-20-2012 06:17 PM

Rudeness begets rudeness. A tactical complaint goes much further toward resolution.

It clearly looks like free shipping applies to "bulk" orders only.

Nevada Ed 11-21-2012 02:15 PM

On any internet order, no matter what I am buying I ALWAYS ask for the total bill before I give them I card # or give them the ok to bill me................

Lots of scam artist out there getting you to actually buy 2 orders instead of one.........(window blinds, knife, cleaners ) and you have to know what the bottom line is going to be.

It is a learning process, no matter how old or smart you are.

doc540 11-21-2012 03:28 PM

At one time, the charge of "liar" could get one, at the worst, shot, and, at best, forcibly seated.
