Default Steel cased .45

I took one of my Colt 1911's to the range today to test out Tulammo steel cased .45ACP. I have done a lot of work to this particular pistol as it is my main carry 1911 and have tuned it to eat any .45ACP I can feed it. I was very pleased with it today. over 100 rounds not a single feeding issue and fairly accurate.

The kicker is I just purchased a 625-3 and decided to test the steel .45ACP in that. I loaded up a few moon clips and fired away. My initial thoughts were good as it was very accurate, so I went to reload and fire again only to find the cases really did not want to come out. I had to tap on the ejector to extract them so that ended my experiment on the 625, I thought it would be less picky than a 1911.

The US used steel cased .45 ACP and .30 Carbine ammo from late WWII till the end of Korea.

With any firearm ammo reliability varies. I've found steel case to be a problem in some and fine in others. Just as you experienced, but my guess would have been the reverse, revolver fine and auto problems. You just never can tell..........

That is what I expected as well. I am not opposed to steell cased ammo, just surprised it would not play well with the 625.

Tula steel cased ammo works great in all my .45 ACP pistols. When it comes to revolvers I can only use it in one! The cases stick like glue in my 625-8 and 25-2. Can't use it in my Ruger Blackhawk Convertible either. Works fine in the 22-4.

All Tula ammo has disappeared in my area, which is a shame because it is what I shoot most of the time at ranges with coarse gravel. Trying to find your brass in gravel is a real pain for a 6' 3" fat guy!
