Tulammo brassmaxx
I just found some of this in Walmart. It was the only 40 ammo they had. 20 bux a box. Anyone use it yet? I might try It tonight if I get a chance.

How about a picture?

Re: Tulammo brassmaxx

Tulammo brassmaxx
BrassMax is a variant of other cartridges produced by TulAmmo that WalMart has been selling for some time. The typical TulAmmo comes in a steel case. I have only seen this is brass recently and only in 40. TulAmmo is actually Russian made. I haven't had significant problems with it, but some of the cartridges seem to be a little weak. It also tends to be quite dirty, with almost a burned smell when shooting. I don't know if it would do any damage to your gun, but I personally won't buy it.

I saw some of that brassmaxx for $19.99 a box for .45 fmj at wallyworld myself. Maybe I shoulda grabbed a box....
|
I saw this for the first time this morning at Walmart in .45. Bought 3 boxes out of only 5 they received for 20.00 each as it was all they had. I asked about the ammo and was told this was their very first shipment of it and only received the 5 boxes. Went home, grabbed the SD amongst other pistols, and went to the range. Shot 100 rounds with no problems. Afterwards I stopped by Walmart again on the way back home. Luckily the remaining boxes were still there.....till I took those home as well. I'll continue to buy again and again. That is if I see it there again. Recommended? Yep!!!
|
Man I wish my Walmart would get some stock in....Small town living has its down sides!
|
It's contract ammo made by Fiocchi of Italy says so right on the box basically it Tula ammo in name only,it brass case boxer primed with standard copper jacket lead core bullets.
None at my local Walmarts have any in fact the case was totally empty yesterday except for four boxes of Win. 270 ammo. So far I've seen other post on the ammo in 9mm,40 S&W and .223 Rem. An Academy Sports store is opening up near me in mid April, they carry Monarch brass case ammo which is made by Prvi Partizan of Serbia. |
I just seen some on GB, they are selling it for between $0.65-0.85 per round when I broke it down...
Wish my Wallyworld would get some! |
I purchased 2 boxes of BrassMaxx in 40SW at a Walmart in So. California today. Thanks for the range report! I was a little uncomfortable buying an unknown. Walmart sporting goods salesmen said people are lining up at 6AM for a 6:30AM opening and they don't stock the new ammo until after 7AM.

I reload .40 S&W and a friend gave me 50 rounds of once fired, steel case, by TulAmmo. Each round jams in the chamber tightly and must be driven out with a wooden dowel. It will not eject after being fired from my S&W 411. All my brass reloads by other mfg.'s eject fine with the same powder and bullet reloads.
I have not fired any fresh Tulammo from the box. Only reloads. Just a word of caution, if you are interested in reloading this ammo. Neal 39 |

I have read the major problem reloading steel case (not a re loader yet but I still have read up on it and am learning as much as possible) is the fact its not as elastic as brass. This causes the case to suffer more stress weakening it when its fired. Then more stress is added when the round is re sized and reloaded. I would think that the unsupported chamber on many 40 S&W caliber handguns would also exasperate this issue. Then we add in the fact the 40cal S&W is a extremely high pressure round. This to me looks like we have a almost perfect storm for catastrophic failure. |

I did see a guy at the range shooting some aluminum cases he reloaded. I wouldn't do that either though. |
Maximum pressure for the 40 S&W is 35,000 psi, a level that I would consider far from "extremely high". Fact is that the max pressure for 9mm is 34,084 psi and nobody call the 9mm an "extremely high pressure" caliber. They also don't call the 357 Magnum an "extremely high pressure" caliber and it just happens the max pressure for the 357 Magnum is 35, 000 psi.
Yeah, an off track rant. However I do wish folk would crack open a reference manual before they start spreading claims they read on the Internet. Folks, not everything you read is actually true. BTW, a reference. List of handgun cartridges - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
tulammo brass maxx
Yes the Brass Max comes in .380 also. I just purchased some but not tryed it yet. $26.00 for 50 at the gun store. They are always higher. Wal Mart has no ammo where I live.
|
If anyone's interested I finally shot this stuff in a sd40ve over the weekend. Worked fine no problems at all.

Interesting how Walmart stores only carry it
|
I picked up three boxes in 45ACP about a month or so ago. Just shy of 20 bucks a box but good clean shooting ammo in my Sig 220. BTW haven't seen it since.
|
I could not resist. I just purchased 4 boxes.
|
If i see it ill grab me some. Ive used regular Tulammo and never had a problem with the steel case. I hope one of my three walmarts in town gets some in 9mm.
|
I have fired thousands of rounds of steel cased Tula 9mm and .45 ACP ammo in Glock, various 1911's and my S&W 625-2 with absolutely perfect function and on target results. The brass cased Tula that I have used has been in every respect excellent. In every way Tula ammo has been fully the equivalent of any similar ball ammo produced by any domestic producer, except the price has always been a bit less.
|
It just recently started showing up on Walmart's shelves around here. About $2/50 less than WWB in .45 and about $3.50 less than WWB in .40.
Just picked up 150 .40 and 300 .45 in the past couple days. Other than the stamp and the color of the primer, you wouldn't be able to pick it out from the crowd :) Has anyone reloaded the brass? |

Picked up 3 / 50 round boxes of the 9mm at Walmart this morning. I'll give it a try later when it cools off here.

I found a box of .223 a week ago. Never seen it in this caliber before. 15 bucks. Im excited to try ithttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/06/27/redese3a.jpg

Just found some of this ammo at my Walmart. They had 9mm 40 45 223 I was stoked to find some 9mm then I found out my Walmart has started only selling one box a day no! Not bad at 13 bucks for 50 rounds.
|
Yep just got a box of 9mm from my Wally-World today. Little woman is in Norfolk this weekend and got 2 boxes of .40S&W there. 1 box here three boxes there.
|
I've put 600 rounds of the 9mm BrassMax downrange since it started showing up. Seems to be a very good target round. It's also about 1 dollar cheaper than Fed Champion since WM raised their prices. Good stuff
|
The 100-round is made in Bosnia and Herzegovina, possibly also by Fiocchi? I saw lots of Italian made Fiocchi lately, Fiocchi brand was almost exclusively USA made in the past!!! Looks like Fiocchi produced as much as possible in the last 6 months to satisfy our demand!

I have fired about 400 rounds of this ammo only in 9mm thru my M&P and my Hi-Point carbine without a hitch of any kind. It may be a little dirty, but what hell, I clean my guns after I go to the range, so no problem.
|
They had the 100 round 9mm boxes of the Maxx at Academy this morning for $27.00 and change. I passed it up, can you imagine passing up ammo! I'll probably grab some tommorow if that's all they have.

I have 50 rounders from WM that state made in Italy on box and 100 round tub from Academy that states Bosnia. Both say boxer primed.
Attachment 122465 Left is Italian - probably by Fiocchi Right is Bosnia -Tula Attachment 122466 100 round tub Attachment 122467 50 from WM Haven't used the Bosnian but like the Italian. It smells just like Fiocci! |
I have Fiocchi, absolutely love them!!!!

Haven't tried it yet so I can't comment on quality. I think they had .380 and .40 S&W on the shelf as well. |
My local Wal-Mart starting carrying this several months back, and I've bought several boxes for my .40. I've had no problems from any of the rounds I've shot. My uncle has also shot a few boxes of the .45apc, and no problems there either. They seem pretty good, and offer a little better price to boot.

Imagine my surprise yesterday when I stopped by a Wal-Mart in Arnold, MO (St Louis area) and saw these strange plastic tins of ammo in the ammo case. Sure, I know that .40 and .45 ammo is pretty well represented...but 9mm?
I saw TulAmmo and was gonna keep walking - I don't care for steel cased ammo. Looked again and saw that this was 9mm 115gr BRASS cased FMJ. Ammo is made in Bosnia. Bought 3 on the spot...and 3 more on my through at the end of the day. They had maybe 20 of these plastic 100rd tins. $22.50/100rd. WHAT A STEAL! Anyone else use them? I shot about 50rds and they worked just fine. No issues at all. http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l1...psf9f780bd.jpg |
Odd container.

I also have been shooting this ammo (9mm) as purchased from WM. From what I can tell, it is as cheap as Wolf and Brown Bear, but cleaner and brass cartridges. I don't see a down side to it. I have also recently been shooting brass S&B 9mm ammo, and the TulAmmo BrassMaxx is actually quite a bit cleaner in comparison.
I can't see a down side to this stuff- it seems to work great for target shooting. You cannot beat the price. |
I have shot the Tulammo Brassmax in my Glock 21SF, aBeretta Storm in in 45acp and a S&W model 625-6, ad I have never had the first problem with this ammo so far. I don't think it can be beat for the price, and it runs fairly clean. Ray
