EXAMPLE OF THE CRAZINESS
I called my local Cabelas at 9:05 a.m. They open at 9:00 a.m. Spoke to the hunting dept and asked if they have any 9mm ammo in. He replies Yes, got some last night but it is gone!
So in 5 minutes, their shipment of 9MM was sold out. Between the people that were waiting at the door, and the employees- it was gone in 5 mins.
Good luck
Larry

A new Cabela's is opening here on March 7. I would assume ammo is being held back for things like that. They wouldn't want a grand opening with empty shelves.

Broken record, I know, but I hope we're all contacting our legislators in D.C. to let them know our opinions on the anti-gun hysteria being propagated by the media. As well as trying to buy ammo. Support the N.R.A.

Did they tell you how much they got in? If it was only a few boxes that wouldn't be any surprise. If it was a couple of "pallets" full then I would be surprised.

A friend works at a big box store gun counter. He told me last week that they got eleven ARs in and ten of them were bought by employees before they went on the shelf.

Its wiser to go to those little stores that are often over looked. I'd rather pay a couple bucks more per box from them because they have it in stock. Trying to save money by going to the big box stores just equals being a waste of time.

I got off work this morning at 0500, went to Walmart to buy some Valentines Day stuff for the "Way Better Half" (working nights sucks for shopping) Anyway, cruised by the ammo case and found .22's 9mm's and .223's. The guy said they are stocked up like that everynight and usually sold out by 1000. I bought 3 boxes of TulAmmo .223's for $5.97/box. I'll stop again tomorrow and see what they have. Need more .22's for my new MP 15-22 and some 9mm for my XDM.
Shop early!

Really something,is it not? I was in a LGS Tuesday and the guys were stocking some Armscorp .223 ammo on the shelf. I was buying a Ruger Scout rifle and by the time the "instant" check was done the ammo was gone!

I'm surprised Walmart even carry ammo anymore or is it just in the People's Republic of California that doesn't?

that is why i reload
That is why I reload. I have a lot of time on my hands so I reloaded 1000 rds of 9 mm and 500 rounds of .223 and I have plenty of components left. That is exactly what I need to pass the time while I am self quarantined. It sounds like a lot of ammo but I shoot over 200 rounds of 9 mm when I go to the range. I have a model 39 LNIB with the lazy ampersand but I cant shoot it because it is too valuable. A safe queen. From gunbroker I bought a 5906 in great shape and it is a great shooter. From Aim surplus I bought a post war P38 (now called a P1 because of the aluminium frame) that has the stronger slide made in 1976. That is the most accurate 9mm I have ever seen. It shoots one hole groups at 15 yards. I have a sig P320, and the P226 both with the factory installed red dot sights and a couple of High Powers. Of the high powers, one is an Israeli trade in with only FN markings and the Israeli star and the other has the browning name. The Israeli is finished challenged but was carried a lot and shot very little. Ok I have two many 9 mm pistols but I have only one Colt AR-15 model MT6601 with a krieger barrel that I used to compete with. So I have no ammo problems. The only problem I have is waiting for the ranges to safely reopen.

All shelves are still cleared out here minus some sporadic 10mm and oddballs like .41 Mag and .454 Casull.
I’m really interested in one of the new Springfield Hellcats but since 9mm is a hen’s tooth right now I’ll probably carry my little Beretta .25 until this is over.

Please Folks, once this pandemic BS is over stock up on ammo when available at fair prices. I ran out of .22 RF ammo during Barry's term, couldn't get it and learned from the experience. I'm in good shape this go around, all calibers, .22 RF, and reloading components as well.

Might be a good excuse (if you really need one) to buy the ammo they have in stock and then find a pistol or three to be able to use it. You know, gee, I have all this ammo and I would really like to be able to use it up.

Some of the people here probably eventually found ammo as we moved into 2014 and beyond.

Learned from the 2008 famine, I reload for all , except shotgun and 22. I have 2000 eley force 22lr, and I bought shotgun shells by the case, ( mainly steel duck loads). But I get nervous and Jerry if my reloaded stash drops below 500 per. And I probably have enough component now, that I will not need anything in the foreseeable future

I went to Walmart early Friday morning to get Clorox wipes when they first opened. I paid for them at the sporting goods counter and got a box of 555 Federal 22's also.

I stocked up over the last few years as I shoot a lot of .357sig and .45acp. Also stocked up on .38+p and 10mm. I dont own a .22 LR so Im not worried about that craziness. I reload for rifles so thats covered. Wouldnt mind getting some .22mag just to go plink so I dont dip into my 5000 rds but no big deal if I dont.
Went to my range yesterday and shot my .257wby and my .375hh. Also ran thru 100 .357sig and 100 .44mag.
Was good to make some noise

I refuse to pay HIGH prices for any Factory ammo. (yes I reload )
I just wait until the price is doable.
I would rather grab my K-Bar and baseball bat, than to pay those high prices!!
I guess $$$ means nothing to some people.......... ?

Same here. I have bought little factory (except .22's) in decades. I cast for all my handguns too......So, if I need some ammo I just go out to the shop and make it.
